Street spring rate for Ohlins Flags?

Hello all.

What spring rate is recommended for Ohlins Flag coilovers for street use? I searched and didn't find anything as most people don't buy these for the street.

Vendors feel free to PM me prices and recommendations.

Why would you want those for just the street? Seems like a waste to me. But I would just stick with the stock rates that they come with for street use. The ride is not bad at all unless you turn up the damping.

10k front and rear should be comfortable. I alsi think its a waste of money running Ohlins flagship coilover for street use though.

Thanks. Any idea what rate these ship with for an Evo?

I agree that they are overkill, but I don't think there are many better setups out there. I may go back to a strut/shock/spring combo for the street though.

Ohlins Flag aren't well suited to street use. They have limited front damper travel and as such run into compliance issues at times.

If you must, I agree with EVO8LTW and would suggest using the springs included with the dampers. These are 12k frt and 10k rr. If you go too soft in the front you may run into bump travel issues if not setup right. Keep compression as low as necessary and rebound to suit your taste and it will be fine.

I would swap those springs. 10k up front, 12k in the rear.

10k in the rear is actually pretty good. I know the general consensus is to run more in the back, but thats for coilovers that come with something like 6-8k in the back.

the reason you run more in the back is because running more in the front causes understeer. you want your stiffer spring in the back. spring kits, and even the stock rates are setup that way. why they screw it up on coilovers all the time is beyond me, but for these cars there's no advantage to putting a stiffer spring in the front than the rear. it's backwards, and doesn't make any sense from a performance standpoint.

I'd run the stock rates as they are for the time being. You would be surprised that it works pretty well for DD. If you are going to track it then I would either swap the springs F to R or get higher rates. I run 11kF/12kR with custom valving on my Ohlins and it's stiff but still pretty compliant on 90% of the roads.
