Tire/wheel combo without rubbing

I am looking to get a tire/wheel package for my 05 Evo in the next day. This is what Im thinking

Rim - Enkei RPF-1 in 17.8.5 +30mm

Now for the tires, its for autocross.. I currently have 255/40 Hankook RS-3s on 5zigen fno1rc 17x9 +35mm

I want the widest tire so it wont rub as currently I don't have any fenders rolled on the car.

Looking at R compound tires in 245/40 or 245/45

Hoosier A7 - 245/40/17
BFG - R1-S - 245/40/17
Hankook Z214 - 245/40/17
Kumho V710 in 245/45/17

Some of these tires run wider than the others. I think the R1-s and A7s are the widest. Does anyone have personal experience as to if they would not rub without rolling rear fenders? My rear camber is about -1.5.

Thanks,

Scott

Are you against rolling the rear fenders? A 255/40 r-comp on a 9.5 with a +35 offset wheel is an awesome setup. And all that's really need is the rear fender rolled flat.

I'm not against rolling if i absolutely have to, but for right now im trying to get a light rim, the RPFs without having to use spacers, and apparently only the 17x8.5 +30mm variety will work, the 17x9 RPF +35 require spacers to clear the front calipers which I don't want to deal with.

I think the 17x9.5 +38 rpf1 clears the brembos. I know for sure the 17x9.5 +35 konig torch does (they're on my car now), and they weigh 20.5lbs. Not super light, but not too heavy.

the 9.5 +38s fit fine in the rear, but you need a 20mm spacer up front. The spokes are diff angles on anything over the 8.5" RPFs. Ugh haha

Maybe its the Nt03 that clears in 17x9.5 +38 then..

I have the 8.5's ET30 in stock right now. Many run the 245/40-17 with good luck, some the 45's but if dropped you'll be real close to rubbing.

17x9 +35 with 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 is a no hassle setup as long as you are not all hellaflush or dropped a stupid amount. I ran this setup on 5Zigen's and some old Rota DPT's for 2-3 years as I worked through the NASA DE ladder.

Beyond that you might as well bit the bullet, start rolling and cutting and move to 18's with big rubber.
