2012 power variance?

That said, a few ounces heavier timing chain isn't going to drastically effect power output.
The only reason I brought up the timing chain...
On a dirt bike the difference between chains can have a drastic different on power. Going from a conventional O-Ring chain to an X-Ring chain robs horsepower. Yes it's a different design, but figured the same rule may apply.

With the Head, Cams, and Turbo having the same part #; what about the Throttle Body or Intake Manifold being different? Or maybe the exhaust/ downpipe? All these items have been known from time to time for choking 20-30hp on a tuned car...

I had another thought and will be testing it today. Perhaps its something similar to the fiasco with some 2005 cams and the cam sensor slot being ground wrong. That affected base timing in that case, but if a batch of cams had incorrectly machined lobecenters or something else then perhaps we could have a similar issue whether affecting ignition timing or MIVEC.

Okay so the 5th 2012 I have played with showed promise. With nothing more than a TBE and cone filter the car put down 330whp at 25psi. Maybe I got 4 cars in a row that were all friday (afternoon at that) cars. I did a full MIVEC sweep to see what was affecting what, timing, etc. Basically this entire thread can be put to rest now I feel.
A few things I did notice is the 2012 seems to like a little more timing than I have seen in the past, even if only 2-3* here and there. Exhaust cam timing has the biggest impact that I saw as well. I wont have the full results ready to post until next week but I wanted to give a quick update before I left for the weekend.

Aren't 2011 and 2012 chains are the same?
I can swear I saw somewhere that they upgraded the timing chain after 2011..hmm ???
according to the sticker on my door panel my car has been built in June 2011 so does that mean it still has the old chain?

^^ I believe like half or so of the 2011s got the new chain but all the 2012s did for sure.
Glad the power difference argument is over. So it's just some of the 2012s like/need a little more timing?

Count me in as another 2012 that was bitten by the Friday motor bug. I still would like to know what is with the Friday motors, because I'm pretty pissed off with the car at this point.
