When you get tuned at AMS you have to fill out a paper stating what you plan to do with the car. I said daily driver and track day car. Maybe they left more on the table because of that. If I was drag racing the car you can tune it more aggressively because it would not have extended periods of load. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Congrats OP! Your car looks strong.

I'm considering pretty much the same set-up as you, just MHI turbo instead.

Any reason why you chose AMS over MAP (for tune)? Since it looks like they did your turbo/manifold work, I assume you'd trust them with you're tune. Not saying AMS isn't good or probably the best, just curious? Maybe just less of a drive for you from OH?

And I agree, peak numbers are nice, but there are better tuning priorities with a daily driven car. I'm very impressed with AMS attention to detail on this.

Your max boost is about a pound higher than mine. The AMS Mustang reads about 8% lower than their dynojet from what I have read. That should be about 380 whp on a dynojet. It sounds a little better but I am not too focused on the number.

Hey black evil thanks for the response and I meant no disrespect or was trying to discredit your set up at all. Anything AMS is top-notch imo. I had just seen where u have cams, up-graded turbo, exhaust mani, injectors and pump where as I don't. We both got tuned on a mustang dyno as well.. I try not to get to wrapped up in numbers either but when I saw the additions u had over mine plus same dyno, it leaves me with wondering why they r reading so low... just wanna see u get your moneys worth out of your mods as this is an expensive hobby we all have haha! Unless I'm totally missing something in the way I'm reading this? I just ordered the FP MHI and in addition to that, getting cams, ID1000, DW 65c, cobb BOV and slapping on a set of enkei kojin 18x9.5 +15's I'm still up in the air between the MX1's and the GSC S1's... since u have to MX1's how r they working out for u? Mainly how's the car feel in the low's and mid's vs your stock cams and how is your idle and drivability?

I went with AMS because it was closer to me. Next time I will make the trip to MAP.

If I had to do it again I would not do these cams. RRE showed good gains with them. I did not see that big of a difference. Also I still get a cel often for cam position. Seems to have something to do with temperature. P0016. I put HKS cams in my 03 and GSC cams in my 06. They were a good investment. I don't think that mild cams are on the X.

No disrespect to anyone here but my car is a DD and I even track. black evil and i both were tuned on a mustang dyno. All im saying is I have half the power mods black evil has and he's barely putting down more then I am in numbers... whats the point of spending all that money on all those mods if u aren't going to safely max them out???

Tune

I don't think that you can compare numbers directly dyno to dyno. Even if they are both Mustang dynos. I believe Buschur's Mustang reads lower than some others.

AMS had not tuned an EF2 before I had mine done. They thought the numbers should have been higher as well. I was told that they called MAP and MAP said that the numbers were where they should be on that dyno.

I did not call MAP myself. I am sure that my setup is more capable than I am using it. Maybe I should have gone to MAP in the first place. They would know the safe limit of their turbo better than AMS.

Your experience with cams gives me pause. Like you, I had read good things/seen dyno graph proven gains about them though. I didn't even consider the possibility of a cam position sensor CEL, haven't heard other owners mention that.

The Evo is my DD/only car, cams might not be worth the hassle.

I agree with you on the dynos reading differently, makes sense.

Who did your cam install, BTW? How much did they charge if you don't mind me asking? Just trying to gather info myself...

I knew people were having issues with cams and the CEL. I did not want to do the cams myself. AMS charged me $1000 to install the cams and I still have the P0016 issue.

That makes sense I was really leaning towards the MX1's but I'm actually thinking I might just go with the GSC's.. plus they r in stock most places and r about 200 bucks cheaper and I've heard good things about them. I think with my build I'm planning I should be able to get up around the 400 mark safely and that's good enough for me right now. I'm just over 9000 miles on the car and I don't want to do any engine work to it yet. maybe after 75k ill rebuild the head and probably have another car I can DD and just make my EVO a street monster haha
