Hey guys, the manual can be highly confusing if you don't read it to the T.

Here is the correct way to do it (just like the manual says, except without the chinglish):

step1: sit in the drivers seat with your key inside with you.
step2: make sure the car is off
step3: turn your headlight switch off if it is on
step4: open the drivers door

this is where it gets confusing to people. you must do this whole process after 4 seconds of step 5, but before 10 seconds is up.

step5: hold down the lock button on your FAST keyfob for a little past 4 seconds
step6: while still holding the lock button down, ALSO begin holding the unlock button down on the FAST keyfob
step7: RELEASE your thumb/finger from the lock button FIRSTLY
step8: RELEASE your thumb/finger from the unlock button SECONDLY
step9: you'll hear a beep corresponding the the program mode you selected. in this case it just alternates between the two.

It matters which button you release firstly and secondly, and you must do the process before 10 seconds is up, but begin it after 4 seconds.

Factoring all of this in makes the NAV worth it.
I cannot justify spending several thousand more just because I can't understand how to operate a keyfob program menu.

Thanks alot! It worked after the 50th time trying. Mitsubishi, you fail at making things simple. Could've just added it to the freakin' menu.

thats all? and the dealer wants like 85 to program one of them things
That $85 dealer fee is to prorgam a NEW fastkey to the car.

The OP is only wanting to change the default drivers-door only unlock mode to all four doors unlock mode - without having the MMCS menus to do that. Not trying to add another fastkey.

BTW - if you have both fastkey fobs that came with the car - and they're both working - you do not need a dealer trip to add a third.

Slightly of topic but I have one key fob that somehow is no longer programed. Is there a way to reprogram it with out going to the dealer? I don't have navi or an owners manual.

Same for me. I have one good fob and one that it not programmed (bought it from a guy as a backu). I want to program the second to start the car. Is there a procedure to program it without the trip to the dealer? I hope so, but am doubtful.

You can do it on the Non-Nav cars too, just takes a couple extra steps versus having it on the screen as an option.

There is a written procedure to programming new (or not original for that car) fobs and/or fastkeys in the manual provided that you have TWO working fobs available. If you have an original fob/fastkey that is no longer working, try changing the battery first.

If you only have ONE working fob or fastkey, then only the dealer can program (add) a new fob to the car. That's an anti-theft feature that's intentionally designed that way.

Kinda bringing this back to life, but thank you for posting this! I have been trying to find out how to do this for awhile. Who would have thought that this would have been in the manual (I didn't lol).
