Nav Unit to aftermarket amp is it possible?
hi guys. long time reader, first time poster.
im currently having problems installing a new amp into my EVO. i have the RF nav package and the problem is that the head unit transmits to the amp via a c bus system. does anyone know which wires are used on the back of the head unit or if it is even possible to remove the stock RF amp without replacing the head unit?
The only option i can think of at the moment is to put in a converter after the RF amp to drop the power level before it goes into the new amp but that would make poor music quality. the amp and sub installs weren't much help either so any light that someone can shed would make my life (and the audio installers) a lot easier.
cheers

I did this today. Connected the MMCS to an Alpine 4x150 with a PAC hi/lo converter. The PAC connects to the low level outputs on the MMCS. On the audio connector, you want the red, green, white, and black wires for this. Note these are solid colors with no stripes or blocks. The converter also has a remote turn-on wire so that you can bypass the CANBUS and still turn on the amp. It has RCA outputs to connect with your amp.
The SQ is no better or worse, but I have other plans for SQ improvement.

You can also go another route if you're looking for better SQ.
Rockford offers their 3Sixty.1 unit that will allow you to cleanly add aftermarket amps to the factory Nav system (They're using it on their Rockford/Mitsubishi Lancer Show Car with the stock Nav setup).
A little pricier then a basic line-level adapter, but a much cleaner way to go about it.
Hope this helps.

I recently installed MMCS into a non- navi with aftermarket amp and subs. When I took out my poineer single HU, I was left with four red, white, green, black wires. After I plugged everything into the MMCS, when I was installing, I couldn't find any sockets to plug these 4 in.
Does this mean I need to buy PAC hi/lo converter? in order for my amps to work? right now, my amp and subs aren't working. I can only hear sound from my speakers and they are bad quality.
Where can I insert the cords into the back of the MCMS if I get the PAC hi/lo converter?
I remember buying metra-02 wiring harness when I was installing my aftermarket single Headunit. Is this similar to that?
Thank You

forgive me if im not mistaking, but if you have the OEM nav unit from factory, it also has a factory RF amp. therefore the wires between the headunit and RF amp are already low-level. you can tap RCA's directly off of them without the need for a hi/lo
of course a hi/lo will still work though

I don't have the RF amp because I bought my car as NON NAV(RF). I installed amp and sub before to the single Pioneer HU.
I'm asking if I can plug the four wires from the amp to the PAC hi/lo converter -> MMCS navigation.
