Alarm problems

This is a little embarrassing, but I cannt figure the alarm out completely.

If I just press the lock button once, the unlock button works as it should. The problem is when I press the lock button twice. This seems to super lock the car.

But when I press the unlock button, although it unlocks and I can drive away, the alarm then goes off.

There is also this little round thing next to the handbrake with the little button and an LED on it. This seems to be part of the alarm as well, but am not sure what it does. I have ready the manual and dont remember seeing it mentioned in there.

Thanks,
Simon.

Let me look into my crystal ball... it is telling me you have a viper alarm!! Is that right!??

What type of alarm do you have really?

Make sure you use only the alarm remote. Using the Fast Key (if you have Fast Key) will take the alarm out of synch. If you really can't figure it out the best bet is to call or go into the shop that installed it. But more info may help people help you. Details man details

eeek, didnt know there was more than one option; assumed it came fitted from Mitsi.
It uses the Mitsi key (normal looking key with buttons on the top) and is linked to the screen.
I will check the car in a bit; its an UK SST.

I think edgley means he has the stock alarm system, not an aftermarket!

If so, that's a very strange problem indeed...

As far as I know, my "Normal" (Non-FAST, handsfree key)

One press of lock locks the car.
Two presses of lock locks the car and confirms with a honk.

One press of unlock unlocks the driver door.
Two presses unlocks all doors.

Have you tried pushing unlock a bunch of times before starting the car? And if you can, snap a picture of this "light" by the handbrake. That's something I don't know of...

Is your car used? Maybe we have different systems in different countries?

I have tried the "press as many times a possible" fix.
I will grab a shot of the button in the light tomorrow.
Technically it is second hand as it was a dealer demo.
