RCA outs

I thought that all lancers had the RCA plug-ins just above the ash tray...I noticed that they had them in the Ralliarts as well, why aren't they in the Evos or am I mistaken?

Only for SSS, which we don't get in Canada. Sorry Divine!

Regardless, there are plenty of aftermarket options. It's well worth the investment.

Welcome to another Edmonton Evo!

Its an easy addon and you can order the part through your dealer or some online stores. It simply plugs in the back of your head unit and fits in the spot below your ac controls.

I just found out that the MR audio station face is actually just a shell that includes the 6 disc changer functionality but behind it is actually a single disc cd player...it can't even play mp3's and the load button is just for show.

The stealership stated they would include an ipod cable, but I am thinking they are just going to give me the cable rather than install it for me. The thought of having to rip out my center dash and mess around with that cable makes me cringe...I just like driving the Evos, not working on them.

Im confused....

Are you saying that you didnt know that the Nav unit was a single disc unit? Or are you saying that the rockford fosgate 6 disc head unit isnt really a 6 disc unit? I would have to say you should look harder if it is the later because I have it and it loads all 6 disks. The Nav unit however does have functionality to control a seperate CD changer, just isnt built in. It does however have the ability to rip CD's to the internal 30 gig hard drive so that it does more than a CD changer could, as well as play MP3 cd's/DVD's.

As for the ipod cable.... from the dealer its nothing more than an RCA to Stereo plug cable that you can pick up yourself for 3 bucks at walmart. It provides absolutely no controllability of the ipod and is merely turning your car stereo into really large and powerful headphones.

The MR trim Evo X in Canada doesn't come with Navigation, you need to go into the MR-Premium to get it along with the 6 disc unit. The plain old MR trim that I have only has a single disc unit but does have the functionality to control a seperate CD changer.

I am thinking that I'm going to need to go out and find myself a stereo system to put into my car because what the Evo X MR comes with in Canada is pretty shabby.

Yeah, the stock 1 disk unit isnt very good.... definately upgrade it. The nav system (which there is a writeup of how to install on this site) is a great unit and you can find them fairly cheap (someone posted a link to an ebay site with the nav/install kit for 1400 us bucks). Just gotta amp up the sound output and put some nice components and sub in too. Good luck with the upgrade!

does it have stock pre outs anywhere on the head unit/ navi? or do you need to go aftermarket to hook up subs/amp?

I Just tapped into a speaker line to get the base signal. No need to pull the head unit out...takes too much time.

Yes, this is true. Make sure it is a speaker wire with all the wires going on, and you can tap into it directly at a speaker if you like. You should be able to get it in your kick panel, or if you have the SSS, tech. you could do it at the factory sub.

If you want amp outputs get the JL Audio Cleansweep. I've installed three of them so far and they're well worth the money.
