Sounds like the drivers side is affected for most ppl. It was my passenger front that start to do this. My first replacement worked for a whole day or so before it went bad. Same side. Second replacement is holding up still.

when i picked my 201 up i had the same problem on just the drivers side, only when in CD mode. then 3 days later the rear went out, then the whole car stopped, brought it back to the dealer when i could, showed the problem. and got a whole new headunit, and that solved my problem

Mine used to do it after I upgraded everything except the head unit. Turns out I had a bad RCA cable. Replaced cables and all is good.

Take it to the dealership. This was happening to me and when I took it in, they said it has to do with oem amp on the radio. The reason it works for the radio and not the CD is that when the radio is playing, the system delivers sound (power) 'via one circuit' and when it plays cd if goes through another 'circuit'. This is what the tech explained to me. They ordered the part, and replaced it free of charge. If you have a smartphone or iPod just plug it into your aux, it will still work (while you wait for the dealership to get the part).

This must be a very common problem. Just noticed this today on my '10 GSR. When my CD is in, I can hear the driver's side speakers cutting in and out. OEM head unit btw.

My car is 2008 MR,having the same problem as well. The previous owner had the stereo swapped with the OEM KENWOOD NAV head unit.
As a few EVO x owners having the same problem no matter with factory or OEM head unit, i think it might be something wrong with other parts within the circuit?

My other question is, when ppl swap the head unit, do they have to swap the AMP as well? From the other post on the this forum, a guys had his OEM HU work well with the stock AMP.
