Great find, thanks!

It's still far from perfect (upper part that meets the dash really looks like crap), but overall it looks really nice. I keep looking at the pics, and I'm not 100% sure if I'd buy this over a Scosche or not.

If anybody gets this new dash kit, post up more pics!

Hey guys...been a while..but i knew that I would come back to this thread when I'm very close to getting the navi unit. And I am very close. I set an appointment up with Pacific Stereo in Riverside. I've re-read this thread and it seems that it boils down to The scosche or the difficult to find and pricier JDM kit. It's been a while since the Pioneer Avic Z130bt came out so I think there has been some issues that have been worked out so i'm comfortable with getting this unit now. Especially after seeing this.

youtube video of the Avic Z130bt being installed on a 2011 subi. with steering wheel controls and rear view camera.

I called them up and asked them for the same setup with my 11'MR. I ask them if they had the HU in stock..YES. Around $950 (asked about "dvd playing while moving" and we will discuss there.. $$ not sure what the price is on that..but i gotta have it.

The dash kit is $85. i need to call them today to make sure it not METRA...hopefully it will be a scosche or if they have a JDM in stock..I'll pay for it. $35k cars right? but I can be happy with scosche also...going by what the thread has said...JDM doesn't help with glare..but scosche does with that little bump on top? Like someone said earlier...there is no perfect one. I'll make sure it's not METRA at least or no deal.

Also installing the rear view camera. Don't know where or how they'll do it..but if its not clean. NO DEAL. they priced it to be $200 i believe..and

the steering wheel controls are about $50. (check video above) sti and evo have similar set-ups, so i believe this will work fine. Not sure about the mic though. wonder if they can tap into existing mic or have to route a new one? gonna ask. this will not be a deal breaker for me though...as long as there are no wires and this is a clean proper install, I'm good.

this is the info on the video (above) description:

2011 Subaru Impreza STi with a Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT In-Dash Navigation with a PAC SWI-PS steering wheel control integration module & a Rydeen Backup camera for full convenience & safety. To speak with one of our team members about your future custom project we can help you create please call our flagship store 951.352.1784 or visit our website www.pacificstereo.com

total price (not including the "dvd motion fix thing) is going to be around $1,300 not sure if that's labor included but I believe so..because he said "total" <--i'll check when i call about the dash kit.

Sooo... any thoughts or concerns? i know to make sure they is no Wandering Navi when the car is not turned on...also to make sure no rattling in the car..anything else I miss?? also if you know a place that would give a similar deal or better in SoCal..let me know. I'm in the Cerritos, CA area..but willing to go a bit out for a CLEAN and PROFFESIONAL (near perfect) install. LA, orange county area..city of industry...doesn't matter.

any help or advice is great. thanks in advance guys. My appointment is this Sat in the AM. going by the vid...i hope it all goes well...

^^ The Scosche kit only has an MSRP of $60, and sells for $40 at Crutchfield.. so $85 seems way overpriced for any dash kit, even if this price is including the wiring harness.

And for the bypass on a the Z130BT, SoundMan Car Audio (also in the LA area) posted up instructions online, and it just involves movng one wire from the Pioneer harness (see vid below). I wouldn't pay any more than $20 for the hack, if that.

Also, keep in mind that the Z130BT is being replaced in the next month or two with the new AVIC-Z140BH - which adds built-in HD radio, Android support, Advanced App Mode & Traffic, for the same $1499 MSRP as the Z130BT (LINK).

You probably won't be able to get the new Z140BH for $950 when it drops, but just keep in mind that Pioneer often runs rebate specials on the last-year AVIC models right before the newer models come out.

But yeah.. I think $1300 if it includes labor & hack, seems okay I guess. Right now, to get the Z130BT from Crutchfield w/free shipping, Scosche kit & wiring harness is $1200, then add $70 for steering wheel interface (though you can get everything cheaper elsewhere). Dunno.. according to the prices you said, it seems they're charging $150 to $200 for labor (depending on if the $1300 was including tax), and that does seem kinda high imo for something that should take them less than an hour to finish.

Also, they'll probably have to re-run the new mic.. and if I remember from their other vids, they'll probably just stick it up on the visor - which looks stupid. Maybe see if they can run it up to the map lights and put it where the stock mic sits.

Anyway, good luck

ETA: Didn't see the part about you getting a back-up cam installed.. if that was included in the $1300 quote, I'm pretty sure they didn't quote you at all on labor/install.

Thanks for the info AFD! I didn't know that the new Z140 is coming out. I will definitely look into that. I'll write down and research the prices for the individual items and bargain a more realistic price with them. They said that the $1300 was an over the phone estimate and that "we can work out a price" at the store. I'm sure if I have all my info in order i can work out a deal with them. I'm also worried that they won't have a good place to mount the rear view camera!!!

I wouldn't mind doing it all myself. I'm just super **** about things and If I did do it, I would find a way to mess something up (no matter how simple) and it would take me HOURS to do...which i don't have time for. I don't mind paying for the labor for someone else to hook it up and if something goes wrong, THEY can be accountable. which reminds me I have to ask about the warranty.

If they can't come to a reasonable price for the items (individually) and a reasonable cost for the labor....or there is just no way to install the rearview camera without messing up my trunk...I have no qualms with walking away...and then maybe i would consider just doing it myself. It seems like there is enough info on this site and online to do it myself. I just know, I'm gonna be one of the people that has to post up about something that didn't go right and my unit doesn't work for some reason..

- will keep ya'll updated! thanks again for the info. It will not go wasted.

I just use my phone most of the time but if I'm on a long trip I use my garmin I bought a couple years ago. It just mounts to the windshield.
