that is a great thread! So it looks like i'll need to buy a bussman fuse tap and put a 15amp fuse in the first slot to keep power going to the cig lighter. Then I'll put a 10amp fuse in the other to power my Sirius unit.

I'm hoping to get this done today and will post the hopefully successful results!!!

OK, so I bought the bussman tap. I put a 10 amp fuse in it because that is the max it'll handle and a 15 for the cig lighter. I plugged it in and nothing. I tried the same configuration in the radio fuse. The radio turned on fine, but no power to my Sirius unit. I tried switching the fuse positions and still nothing.

I just read an another site that in the cigarette lighter is a 5v regulator. Since I've cut the wires and am wiring it directly using the fusetap, I'm assuming that is why it's not working. If that's true what should I do??

Are you connecting the ground to the bolt under the fuse box?

Yes, to the bolt that you see right behind the fuse box panel that you pop off.
