You can plug in a USB with music, iPod, iPhone, other music players and it should play back in your sound system. After the update, I still prefer the Bluetooth way of playing since it at least remembers where my music left off. Through USB it starts from song 1 all the time.

Actually the USB / iPod way starts to remember the last song for me. When I left work yesterday it starts to play from where I left off ~~

Did you left it plugged in? I'm using an iPhone and I always unplug it before I leave, so not sure if that makes a difference. I'll try it again. Maybe it's because I put it in random so it doesn't remember random?

We'll see tomorrow or something haha

Anyone know how to get to the update menu?

EDIT: Instructions

Prep:
  1. Format the USB to FAT32
  2. Put the update.package file in the root of the USB
Updating:
  1. Turn the car to ON (don't really need to start it up)
  2. Wait for everything to be loaded on Nav.
  3. Plug the USB in with the update.package file in the USB drive
  4. Press and hold set + navi at the same time for about 3-4 seconds
  5. Go to Hands Free Module
  6. Press S/W Update
I forgot when, but at some point it will ask you for a password/code, just input 1234 (in that order).

Once the update is done, it will reboot and it'll say update successful and you should have version 9.0.0. Then simply press back until you get back exit that especial menu.

PS: You don't need this update if you don't have a USB port. This update is only for compatibility with iOS 4.0 or higher through the USB port!

File: Download

So, let me get this straight. If I have a 2008 - 2010 Nav unit, this will update that Nav so I can use the 2011 FUSE features? The problem I have is I took my Nav out of my 09 Ralliart and put it in my 2011 GSR but I don't have FUSE or hands free phone functionality.

No I don't think it will work like that. You need to start off with the 2011 system that has the usb port in the glove box.

I have a 2011 GSR. It has FUSE with the USB port in the glove box. Everything worked fine with the stock radio. It wasn't until I installed my navigation unit from my 2009 Ralliart to my 2011 Evo that I realized the FUSE functionality was gone, no more ability to play music from the USB port and no more buetooth functionality. I figured the only difference between a 2008 - 2010 navigation and the 2011 navigation is a FW upgrade. Just curious if this FW upgrade resolves my problem or something completely different.

Does anyone know if this works with the regular 2011 fuse non-nav system?

I think I found my answer in another post on here. It looks like this update is for N-04 Navigation units. I have and N-03.

It should do long as you have the USB port.

Instructions for non-nav system WITH USB port:
  1. DO NOT PRESS BRAKES
  2. Turn audio system "OFF"
  3. Press the following in order: CH1 preset Button, |<< (seek down) button, >>| (seek up) button, and then CH4 preset button.
  4. "HFM DIAG" should be displayed on the system, if not repeat previous steps.
  5. turn the volume to 0
  6. press the "CH4" preset again to toggle through the diagnostic functions
  7. then look for any PN lower than 8785A035 or S/W lower than 0900000
  8. Once you see "HFM OK" displayed, press CH3 preset button to toggle back until "HFM DIAG"
  9. Once you see "HFM DIAG" again press "PAGE" button to enter update mode.
  10. To enter the update security code, press CH1, CH2, Ch3, Ch4 in that order
  11. and the update should start updating.
  12. once that's done press "PAGE" button to return to "HFM DIAG"
  13. turn off the ignition and remove the USB flash drive
  14. test to see if it worked.

If all of this didn't work, let me know.

Well it worked... kinda. The software update process worked, but connecting both my 160gb classic and iPhone 3gs I get "iPod loading". Before I got iPod U No Connect.

So at least it's progress. I have a 3 hour drive today, so I'll see if it is just taking a while to load.

Thanks again!
