Yah man, im an idiot. On the other hand I was able to find an 2014 outlander sport with our display and a rear view camera. I found it on youtube, the link is below. Funny thing is that it gives the vin number right there in the description, so I called Mitsubishi and told them I own this vehicle and that I got rear ended and needed a new backup camera. Haha but I did get a part number for it. It's part number 8781A043. Its super expensive, but I can not seem to find a picture of it, just a description and part number labeled. Maybe someone would be willing to take a stab at it. Heres the youtube video of the car with it installed from the factory if you don't believe me. Btw this took me like half a day of researching and calling around haha.

Looks like that camera doesn't come with any type of harness or anything.

Maybe this is the harness ?

Damn man that was a fast response, haha but yah your right from that diagram it doesn't seem to show anything connected to it. Not sure, im really considering just buying a mito and/or gentex mirror with the rear view camera in it. I mean at 400 bucks you could get one with homelink, rear view camera, compass etc. Idk if its worth it, even though it would be ba to have it on our center screen.

That is for the new nav not the 2014 touchscreen.

I'll try to come up with some more intel about the harness you posted. Whatever I find I'll update this tread.

All we need to do is find someone ,or talk to someone who has a new 2014 lancer with a 6.1 touchscreen and a backup camera and get some pics /part #s off of him.
The U.S. lancer GT comes with a 6.1 touchscreen and a backup camera.

ok so after scouring the internet until 4 AM last night i discovered the below linked site. The guy has a 2013 Outlander with out radio and back up camera and is trying to put in an aftermarket radio. He makes quite a bit of headway on the pin out. Also its seems the 2014 navi uses the same connector but what looks like a different pin out so i think the harness mentioned earlier might work if just used for the connector.

Good find!

however, I don't think we know where the oem camera connects to yet do we? There should be a harness taped up somewhere in the trunk lid.

I found a lancer nearby with our headunit and backup camera. The link is given below. It looks like its the same type camera with the big *** camera under the mitsubishi emblem, just wondering if its a different harness or not. the vin number is given in case someone can find some more info.

Sportback has a nice and more subtle back up camera.

Also very good link, I'm going to forward this to a friend that does installs and see if he can make heads or tails of it.

http://www.justanswer.com/mitsubishi...v-reverse.html

"The gray 8 pin connector is for the rear view camera, and the six pin with five wires is the jumper harness to the camera"

I'll have to pull mine out and see if and where that grey goes to.

A friend of mine does aftermarket or dealer optioned installs on new cars and has done some remote start and stereo installs on various cars I've had in the past. A month or so ago he added an iPod aux in cable to the new head unit and looked at the camera pin out but we ran out of time.

I went over yesterday after work and through trial and error he figured out the grey plug pins, since they aren't listed yet on any of the websites his company has access to.

On 8 pin grey plug...

Pin 1 is power output
Pin 2 reverse sensor wire
Pin 3 is video signal ground (negative)
Pin 4 - n/a
Pin 5 is ground
Pin 6 - n/a
Pin 7 below is video signal (positive)

He spliced into the wires, and we got a camera to work. It does have a reverse sensor wired in from the factory. Unfortunately the cameras he had in stock in his work vehicle were the wrong kind (wrong mounting type) and they also had built in lines. The OEM touch screen head unit has built in lines, so with what he had it showed as double lines.

He ordered me a camera with the proper mounting
bracket without lines and we are going to try to install it next week sometime. We'll have to run cabling from the trunk to the head unit, and just splice into the existing wires and/or add pins to the blanks in the plug.

So the take away is the 2014 Touch screen (non nav) uses the 8 pin grey plug, it is wired for reverse sensor. We didn't trace down where the other end of the harness is, could be in trunk somewhere. The plan is to splice into the existing wires and put in to pins where there are none in the plug, and wire in the camera. You dont have to access any hidden menus or activate anything in the head unit itself. Once the camrea is hooked up you can adjust the image under color settings, ignition on and put into reverse will activate the camera, everything as it should be from the factory. I'm by no means an electronics wizard but I can ask him if you guys have any questions. I'll take photos and do a better write up when the camera is installed.

Check in the trunk on the piller drivers side under the grey matting , there is a plug mounted there with 5 pins just below the top of the mat on the side . I am hoping that this is the connection point.
