Lines are part of the display that you can't turn off so you must use a camera that doesn't have them or you'll have two sets of lines.
It's not plug and play you have to add pins into the grey plug then run wires to the back. The reverse sensor/trigger is already there though.

does the echomaster vm-150 come with long enough wiring or did you have to get your own?

So basically the only thing we have to do is mount camera vm150, run the wires, splice it and add pins to gray connector... We dont have to touch anything from the back of the head unit, so basically the power, reverse sensor and video signal to headunit is with in gray connector... Just trying to understand it...

Thanx btw

Yes the cable is more than long enough. I wrapped up at least 4 feet of extra and stuffed it in the corner of the trunk behind the reservoir.

And to Bordoe yes that is correct. The head unit is all set up, the grey plug is just lacking the pins for the evo.

Oh and you can use any camera for the most part, the VM is just what he could get through work at a discount. Just make sure the camera you use doesn't have the lines or you'll get double lines.

And on another note since the camera is mounted lower than what would be a factory mount I'm not sure how accurate the lines are, it's been less than a day and I haven't experimented with them yet.

I emailed my friend who did the wiring and he said he thinks they were 18 gauge.

The pins were already attached to a length of wire, just some extra parts he had from another kit.

BTW: thanks for sharing this info with the community. HUGE HELP.

EDIT: my '14 WITH nav has the same EXACT 8 pin gray connector with the 3 existing wires connected to it like you have in the picture (red, white, black). So I think this will also work with the 14 Nav unit as well. Need pin numbers to confirm. thanks !

Here is a better photo. It's the top two with the red arrows. I'm not sure when he'll get back to me.
You'll have to trial and error to figure out which one goes where, but it shouldn't be hard to narrow down between the two.
Sorry I don't have all the answers as far as wiring it up, like I said my friend is the one who figured out what went where and actually knows how to wire things in.
I can push packages on SCCM but can't wire a backup camera lol.

Oh as a warning when he was first trying to figure out the pin out he did blow a fuse for the radio, one of the fuses under the dash. So if you are poking around and your radio display wont come on, check the fuses, I think it was one of those little 10 amps.

This is the pin out from my original posting he gave me

On 8 pin grey plug...

Pin 1 is power output
Pin 2 reverse sensor wire
Pin 3 is video signal ground (negative)
Pin 4 - n/a
Pin 5 is ground
Pin 6 - n/a
Pin 7 below is video signal (positive)

Its nice. I had a TL-S and was very used to having a back up camera, so its nice to have one again for backing into parking spots.

I had always planned to put one in my eclipse. Since I decided to get rid of it and get a evo I've been looking at such options so your thread intrigued me .

Email responce

Yeah it depends on how you count the plug. 3 and 7 if you start from the top right. 2 and 6 if you count from the top left. Also should note that they should power the camera off the radio acc and ground and not the output from the gray plug. Hard to know how much amperage the output from the radio could handle. Might be factory specific and could cause damage if overdrawn.
