First a rom is a memory file usually a system related or firmware related, is not an actual file extension. In the case of android they use .img as file extension for the rom.
a .rar is a compression file, usually relaed to a program call winrar.
there are 3 major compression file extensions.
.zip
.7z
.rar
so a compression file is not a rom file, usually inside a compressed file there.
that said, a root is achieved by using a program or you can use a custom rom that already include root.
my advice will be not to root the device and stay with the standard rom.

Yea, the music sounds distorted. I tried messing with the EQ but still sound bad when I turn up the volume. I was just wondering about the Bluetooth dongle because I know some tablets support it. Plus it would probably help with the OBII bluetooth issue. Just curious.

almost done setting up the unit. tomorrow i will finish it
Race Display app, for TQ pro.
with ex RT66 nav, now they call it Magic Earth Pro navigation on play store.
i have a life time world downloadable access, and traffic etc with it. This way doesn't need internet. Light years a head vs the Igo.

The OBDLink MX adapter i post it, on the page 10 before.
Really fast etc, but it is a struggle to hook it up first, at least for me. I do highly suggest talk to NinjaX for help to do that, and really pay attention on the part when you have to upgrade the adapter, if necessary. Do it only over your phone. Do not upgrade through the head unit.
Other then that, works really great, the head unit fast like a real race display ( very close) with that adapter.
Also has an automatic turn off and on feature etc, this way you never have to unplug it to saving battery life etc. Has a build in smart chip also. They say 300 times faster than a usual. BT adapter.
in the video i am still in progress to set it up, now i am 90% close. the NAV head unit is outstanding.
i am trully impressed by it.

Look up Torque , and look for a Race display extension for it. I use the MUT V2, and the race display with Torque Pro.
ps , usually i buy everything, including music etc. The prices are really low, not something would change my life, but this way i support the creators or developers etc.

I just got my bluetooth OBDLink MX adapter and was able to connect with no issue. FYI, don't go through setting, go through the bluetooth icon on radio and connect. I tried through setting and was couldn't get it to connect. Reboot the head unit, open Torque app go to setting and make sure its bluetooth and select the mx and it works like a charm. That ELM327 is garbage.
Also like Robevo said, only update the mx adapter through your phone. (connect your phone to it first, download app, go to settings, check firmware and update. Then go back and connect to your radio.)
