EVO MR Tune Q's

Can ppl list all of the MR's that they know of which have been tuned and any issues which have arose? I want to get the z chip but can't seem to find any good info on it with respect to the MR. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have nothing done right now, I have be waiting to find out what can be done. I was one of the ppl who broke a lot of ground with the ford focus (mid 12s car) but it just costs way too much to be the first. I really want to get another 70-80 whp as safe as possible but want to find out if it is practical to try and do so yet.

Wow, I really wish I hadn't seen this - makes me GSR vs MR decision much harder

Great numbers with the MR tho - I'm happy to hear the MR SST won't hold it bacK!

The torque protection of the SST transmission is the sore thumb of the EVO X MR, and now Ralliart '09 RA as well.

This will limit your torque output on the car regardless of tuning method used.

We HAVE tuned a few MR's and Lancer Ralliart RA SST however to nice results.

can you elaborate more on what this "torque protection" is that you mentioned? how can you determine this isn't simply clutch-slip on the SST?

Trust me, wait a few more months and I bet Mitsubishi will hit the market with the SE models or whatever they decide to call it. Best of both worlds taken from the GSR and MR without the SST transmission.

From the MFI Troubleshooting section of the manual:

"To protect the TC-SST, the TC-SST-ECU outputs, into the ECM, the request signal to reduce the engine torque according to the operation condition. Based on the signal, the ECM closes the throttle valve, retards the ignition or carries out fuel cut. At that time, the engine output seems to temporarily reduce, but there is no malfunction."

also tc-sst freeze frame data includes:

element 26
Torque limit request (Fuel cut)
•ON
•OFF

element 27
Torque limit request (Throttle open)
•ON
•OFF

element 28
Torque limit request (Retard)
•ON
•OFF
