ECUTEK or Cobb AP?
I like EcuTeK, as I think the interface is really slick. Ecuflash is really similar to EcuTeK in appearance, but most everyone knows that.
I've used Cobb shelf maps in the past on Subies and they weren't so great. The amount of control granted in the old street tuner was much less than I wanted. Obviously a protune would be a different deal, but all the marrying, waiting, etc, was just not for me. Laptop and cable for this guy.

I have some good news for those considering Ecutek
Due to the strength of the US Dollar relative to the UK pound, I am pleased to annouce that the price on the Ecutek Evo X "flash can" is on sale
$649.00 is the new price which includes the product itself (license fee); dyno time; and also custom tuning for your individual application
also
I have decided to start supporting a Dyno Flash mail in reflash program for Ecutek based tuning
I have been holding back on this and have been waiting while I developed a very strong library of tuning maps over the past year of custom tuning Evo X's all over the United States. Now armed with a lot of great results in the Buschur Flash program and a lot of great running Evo X's all over the place, I am confident that my maps are ready to support a mail in program.
I am now supporting all Evo X and Evo X MR versions with 91 Octane through 93 Octane - Stage I - Stage III (must have stock turbo and injectors)
These maps carefully retune
Air/fuel
Ignition Timing
Mivec - dual
Desired air flow target
DBW Throttle mapping
Idle
Raised rev limuter and launch
Ecu controlled boost
etc
I offer same day service. Simpky ship me your ecu along with a detailed list of mods to
Allan Friedman
Dyno Flash, LLC

I will reflash the ecu the same day and ship back to you with fed ex standard overnight return shipping included for $399

Good example is shelf Cobb Stage 2 map on my car made 313whp, but custom tune I made 341whp just with some more tweaking. Custom tune is way to go IMO.
A lot of people fail to realize that a lot of reflashing markets do not even have custom tuned options and ONLY work by a base tune - and after all the stock car works with a base tune
All the famous FQ series Evos in the UK use a base reflash for example
People who live in remote areas far away from qualified tuners can benefot from base flashes and it allows them to enjoy a safe and good performing tuning solution even though a qualified tuner may not be in their area
Also if you are going to keep changing your mods over a period of a few months then base maps make more financial sense as the expense of frequent custom dyno tuning can be significant
Of course a fully custom tuned reflash is always the best solution but a well crafted base map can achieve excelent results for a significant savings
