Idle problems...Will a Cobb AP HELP???
Idle problems...Will a Cobb AP HELP???
I just got a brand new EVO X and have been loving it, but have an issue. I noticed when the temperature outside has alot of humidity in it, the car idle jumps. So I checked the TSB and found that since my EVO was built in Feb 08, it needs a reflash to fix the problem. I called the dealer and then said they could do it, but it will take some of the performance away. So they said to just live with it and it won't hurt a thing. So......Can I get a Cobb AP and fix this myself and that way no performance issues???? Also will the Cobb AP VOID my warranty??? Thanks
Take some of the performance away?
No. I think some people actually dyno'd before and after the reflash and it shows a decent power gain.
And yes, you could get an AccessPort to do the same thing. The maps they use are up-to-date with the OEM maps (+ extra power, of course).

every evo x has had the idle problem, even still after the factory reflash, when i changed to the AMS intake i still had the problem, when AMS finally released the heat/fan shield for thier intake, instant fix for the idle issue, i have come to believe that the fan running on any intake without some type of shield is pushing more air into the intake thus creating the idle issue, i have fixed three evo x idle issues by getting those owners (who all had aftermarket intakes and repeating idle issues) to get a heat/fan shiled and no idle issues since

I have an AEM cold air intake and it hasn't done it since I installed the intake but it has also been very cold the last couple of days, 30 - 40 degrees. With the AEM intake I don't think the fan can affect it since it (the filter) is completely enclosed in the AEM box. ALSO, the dealer told me that the idle problem is due to the climate and the A/F ratios that come from the factory. SO.......

On a second note, in reference to my original post, will the Cobb AP void my warranty. I see that this Cobb AP will fix my problem, just wanting my warranty to still be active.
Also I haven't even used my A/C yet, too cold out here.
