3 - Port Boost Control Solenoid and Harness

I would like to get a 3 - Port Boost Control Solenoid and Harness...

Does anyone have any recommendations for me for the X?

I saw the Gruppe-S but it sounds like I'd have to do some trimming on my X. Which I don't want to do at all. I want a complete plug and play system so I can easily return it to stock.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations if you have them!

PERRIN makes a plug and play IIRC... $99 bucks

It does the same thing as the Gruppe-s and nothing on the actual car needs to be trimmed, just the plug from the aftermarket solenoid, not anything OEM from Mitsu.

What is the purpose of switching from 2 to 3 ports?

Is it remotely needed for a car under about 400whp with just bolt on's or is it fine just to use the stock boost management system?

The stock boost system works pretty well with a upgraded boost pill. I would recommend it for 95% of the stock turbo users. It's for sure better than the Evo 8/9 system.

For larger turbos I would recommend going to a 3 port solenoid over a bleed type 2 port solenoid (like the factory)

does it come with the same adapter that Perrin's does so there is no splicing?

+1 for a great mod at a great price (both tatrix and perrin)
i was boost limited (only hit 20 psi falling to 14) when i got tuned so a 3 port is a great upgrade.

It's not plug and tune for the X. They told me you have to trim the harness.

Ps Perrin is cheaper too...

Perrin, Gruppe-s, Tactrix all use the same harness plug, so they all need to be trimmed to fit the X as the X OEM harness side plug has the slot reversed from the Evo 8/9.

Again, you do not have to modify anything OEM on the vehicle, you just have to modify the 3 port plug.

Any tech articles on hooking one of these up and the effects?

Why an upgraded pill? Why not just remove the oem pill?

Upgraded pill replaces the OEM pill at the pressure side, you are talking about removing the pill at the solenoid side.

Keeping that pill in and replacing the OEM pill at the pressure side gives better control, more resolution, better response and consistancy.
