Anyone running Cobb AP stage 1 w/ K&N drop in

First off I know its not recommenced, but I've had my k&n in for months and am not about to go to the dealer to buy another stock filter just to run the AP. Is the afr really going to be that dangerous? Only if cobb released a drop in filter map already....

Are you sure the K&N drop-in filter isn't okay with the X? It is for the VIII and IX.

It says right on the website that it's NOT recommended that you use an aftermarket filter. It has been said that it is due to the fact that a panel filter leans out your AFRs. Cobb Stage 1 map is a cookie cutter map that tries to keep everyones cars in the same AFR range that is safe, give or take a few tenths.

Perrin, on the other hand, sells an AP with a Stage one map that says it's ok to use a panel filter. Maybe you'd want to go that route.

Edit: Im not 100% sure about running a panel filter with the Perrin Stage 1, search for it. I know I remember reading it on here somewhere.

No they make a model for the x, and 8 and 9 have a different airbox.

Found my stock filter, popped her back in, and no more worries. All I can say is wow, you really do feel a difference with just stage 1 map stock, not upset anymore about not being able to use my k&n. Mods you can delete this thread at anytime.

^ good to hear.

Cobb has said they are working on drop in filter maps, and iirc k&n and HKS were the two they wanted to have maps for.

Yeah, that's definitely different than what they said for the VIII and IX: "Additional modifications such as an under drive pulley or panel filter are still within the acceptable modifications for this calibration."
