WGDC High Gear vs Low Gear

Does anyone know when the WGDC High Gear is used vs the Low Gear? I want to trim the boost back a little in the 3k-3.5k range in the Higher gears since the engine does not sweep through the RPM range as fast. I think in the Higher Gears in general the WGDC should have a faster Duty Cycle in interrupt mode to keep the boost in check. However, it would make a big difference for me as to which gears are affected in low vs high.

Anyone know?

Thanks,
smanders

What are you boosting to now? If you aren't seeing overboost codes from too much boost at part throttle in low rpms in high gears then why would you want to dial boost back at peak torque where it generally spikes highest? That's going to be where you would be cruising on the highway at 60-70mph in 5th so if you are actually needing to accelerate quickly and downshift to 4th you'll be way above that rpm anyway. I'm making the below boost relative to rpm at WOT in 3rd for reference.

3007rpm 14.665 psi
3046rpm 15.875 psi
3105rpm 17.132 psi
3136rpm 18.728 psi
3210rpm 20.180 psi
3238rpm 21.389 psi
3304rpm 22.791 psi
3335rpm 24.290 psi
3398rpm 25.693 psi
3460rpm 27.047 psi
3527rpm 28.112 psi
3562rpm 28.692 psi
3640rpm 28.692 psi
3703rpm 28.741 psi

From 4500 which would be like if you dropped to 4th, I'm seeing 25psi tapering down to 22 by 5500 and 20 by 6000rpm

You can use the mph crossover table, but if you set it too low, I believe it will alter the boost in all gears which is something you do not want. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

You can have the ECU react quicker to error correction checks by using a smaller number in the "Reactive Solenoid WGDC Correction Interval" tables. There are two, one for low gear and one for high gear. Stock they are set at 7 (mS I believe). Setting them to 1 or 2 will make the error correction lookups much quicker.

Any adverse effects to setting both numbers lower to 1 or 2 ms? Would that help cut back on the spike and huge dip when the conditions are just right to cause overboost? I've had trouble setting BTEL to be stable enough for all conditions to avoid any spikes/dips, so my BTEL is set slightly higher than typical loads so that primary WGDC is always maxed out at 100.

53040010:
<table name="Boost Control RPM Per MPH Xover (Gear Based)" address="54678"/>
<table name="Reactive Solenoid WGDC Correction Interval (High Gear Range)" address="5346a"/>
<table name="Reactive Solenoid WGDC Correction Interval (Low Gear Range)" address="54688"/>

53040007:
<table name="Reactive Solenoid WGDC Correction Interval (High Gear Range)" address="5346a"/>
<table name="Reactive Solenoid WGDC Correction Interval (Low Gear Range)" address="54684"/>
<table name="Boost Control RPM Per MPH Xover (Gear Based)" address="54674"/>

You should upgrade to 53040010

You are the man tephra
So the stock crossover value is 161?

Yes, maybe later I'll upgrade to 53040010.
