I tried searching around for similar situations with Evo drivers and there are some videos on youtube with the same noise...just not enough comments on what it could be. I can't hear the noise when I'm in the car, just when I get out of it and walk to the front. The rattling kind of sounds like something is broke. Just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem or knows what it could be from. Also, there are NO mods...yet.

 

If it's your lifters sound that I am thinking of than it's normal.

 

Also the high-z injectors that are on the X are much louder. If you want to identify if it is the same sound you can actuate an injector with a 9v battery (just unplug and wire up the two leads briefly).

 

can you identify where in the engine bay the sound is coming from?

The loud ticking? Injectors. Normal.

I have an 04 VIII and i have a very similar noise, i hope its just the injectors working like everyone has posted
