CEL flashing uncer boost

Hi,

I hope I can get some help here since I don't relate to lancers in a lot of issues.

Here's the story. I have now a boosted 2010 lancer es. I am running a TD04hl turbo with a evo x (tephra) rom with all the setting from a ralliart written on it . I get a flashing cel light under boost, past 6 PSI (on my prosport boost gauge). I have heard that knock would create this, but I dont think NA lancer setup have a knock sensor... Any thoughts?

Thanks guys

Datalog it and see if you have knock.. The code disapear when your not under boost? If it's still there check with an OBD2 Reader and check what code it is.

Tephra (and Cobb) ROMs flash the CEL to warn you to back off when engine is under high load and KnockSum is greater than some set threshold. Check with your tuner. There will be no code logged.

If it's not a Tephra warning, it's a misfire. A flashing CEL means you have a misfire. When a boosted car starts misfiring above a certain boost level, it's usually the spark being "blown out". Check your plug gap. If the car was originally NA, you don't want to run stock gap. Someone with more Lancer experience than I should give you a recommendation, but on Nissans I run .020 to .027, depending on the setup.

Thanks for all the info, turns out I have a cylinder 2 missfire. I'm starting to have a rough idle too with a little puff of blue smoke (I know...oil...dang!) Under normal driving condition, it works perfect still.

I would probably pull the plugs to investigate, likely something up. You can move the Cyl 2 spark plug to another spot to see if the issue follows it assuming it doesn't visually look problematic. Doing a quick compression test while you are at it might not be a bad idea either if you don't have a baseline yet.

Possible vacuum leak?? Would cause rough idle and maybe the misfiring.

So far, I've:

switched spark plug 1 and 2, same issue.
Then switched coi8l pack 1 and 2 same issue
Switched injector 1 and 2 same issue.

About to replace my PCV valve since it exits close to cylinder 2 intake opening.., and will check/tighten all intercooler pipes and fitting..

Anything else I should check? Would a malfunctionning BOV be a propblem, but wouldnt it affect all cylinders?

You say "same issue"... it still misfires, or it still misfires on #2? You cleared the code and let it run/drove it long enough to reset the code each time you moved something?

Yes, Cleared codes, still cyl. #2.... Changed PCV valve, better idle, but still some oil once in a while in the exhaust at idle... Thinking a bad exhaust valve.... Input?

Time for a compression and leak down test on #2.
