AMS Twin Tip Decision... we made our choice
Not really a first time thing. Borla developed this type of exhaust several years ago. This is almost a direct knock off. Im pretty sure Borla makes a good product. I have several friends with Borlas on their Vettes and they sound and look great. Look at post 37 no the 2nd page of this thread.
actually it seems that he drives an 03 evo, is that not good enough for you, does he have to drive a X to post here?
go back to the original post and take a really GOOD look at that mostrosity of an exhaust is shows, i have never seen a dual tip exhaust where one of the sides was basically a straight through and the other had a muffler. hence they were thinking of offering some type off "plates" for sound control, IMO an afterthough.i must agree with kinloch99. if AMS builds in only sukass like you will buy it.
its ok for a shop to be experimenting with designs, etc. some are good, and some, like this one, just shouldnt make it into production, but time will tell

If AMS didn't do it this way on purpose, why the hell wouldn't they just split it like the ETS or Buschur catback? If the sound customization turned out to be an afterthough, why wouldn't they have just made it like every other JDM dual? Cheaper production if they had. No, they chose to do it this way on purpose. AMS knows what they're doing. If people aren't interested in this part and they don't even own a X, why do they try to vendor bash in these threads?
chinga tu madre!! Yes I see that he drives and evo..what are you his girlfriend? I was joking. If I don't like the exhuast I can always buy another, I have enough money. That is obviously not the finished piece
Having some way to change the exhaust routing from inside the car would be worth an extra $200 in my book. The valve wouldn't even have to seal 100% but it would be bad *** to drive around with a slighly louder exhaust from stock, handy if you get pulled over, and then add in or switch over to the no muffler mode for the track or when you want to open her up a bit.

Not sure how much those remote triggered setups are but you could also get a wired version for less I would imagine.

Read from Post #59 and on (it's on page 4 for me). Everything was designed specifically and for a reason and some people who may want to tune their exhaust sound or have multiple choices for tips value the product they're offering.
Forums are for opinions and I respect the fact that you have one, but just know that there are plenty of people (namely the ones in the other thread) that have views opposite of yours (including myself
) Everything from the turboback on my X will be AMS, including the tunable, customizable, and tasteful (in my opinion) Dual tipped exhaust. They're good for weight savings if you track your car though

The system was designed to be tunable from Day one and this was our initial design. We wanted a system that was low profile, Tucked to the bottom of the car and had the option of the end user adjusting its audible level. This was not an afterthought.
That system shown is a mocked up prototype using material we had here. The production one will have infinitely fewer welds and be much cleaner. We just wanted you to see what the general outline of the system would be.

Eric,
Will this be queiter than the single out exhaust. I have watched the video, but not hearing it in person its impossible for me to tell. Im interested in a fairly stock decibel level. Different tone is good just not loud.

I have not listened to them side by side but I would be willing to bet on the quietest setting the Twin tip would be a hair quieter.
much of the decibel level is going to be determined of what type of cat you are running or if you are running one at all

btw much respect for the time patience you guys at ams have taken with this exhaust. things that are rushed into production to make a release date are generally crap.... look at windows vista and the iphone 3g.
all three settings sound great and I cant wait to see a finished product.
and a question I have searched the threads and lost what tip options are likely to see the final product. (interchangeable tips sold seperately would be sick!)

I would love to give you a solid number but there are still too many variables here to do that.
It looks like the oval tips are the front runner with the possibility of having interchangeable ones as well.
Eric
so setting 2 and 3 would be louder then the single exit?
