It would probably get sloppy around the track. Being great around the track at 400whp doesn't make it exceptional at 600whp with the same suspension setup.

I seriously get angered with the 4G63 guys coming in here all the time.

How good was your motor within 10 months of its release back in the early 90s? What was it making?NOthing even close to the 4B11? yeahhhhhhhh

Im not a 4g63 guy.. I own an EVO X.. We are just making observations on the design compared to previous.. is that so terrible?? i guess we should all just post the same thing " wow that looks great, a built 4b11t, it will be the best motor ever"..

it's not terrible, but there is a thread for discussing the previous evo's vs the X.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=322869

I just get tired of going into a thread about the X motor or the car itself and guys like this coming in...

I have to agree with Mike on this one. Even though there are some high hp aluminum blocks out there allot of behind the scenes are hidden from the public. I have seen several honda blocks come back straight from Darton that leak or have problems. This is not t bash Darton at all becouse i think they are one of the leaders in what they do but that doesnt mean what they do is better/stronger then the old school stuff.

For instance how many full points bracket racers are running new school v8's? Very few why do you think that is. How many professional drag racers are running new style block? I can only think of 1 team running the new Boss 502 at this time everybody else is on the old school design.

Weight savings yes weight savings is great you can not argue with that at all. Dont get me wrong i hope everything works out with the 4b11 and it ends up making just as much HP with less weight but i think it has a long road ahead of it to get there IMO.

4G63 and 4B11T FTW!

Formula 1 engines = sleeved aluminum block

They also constantly rev above 15,000 rpms for over 2 hours on the track and they dish out about 700-1000bhp (depending on the restrictions).

Back in the 80's they were running turbo charged engines with only 1600cc displacements and 1000bhp, those were also aluminum blocks.

I see no problems with aluminum block engines.

And answer this. How long before they went through that aluminum block to freshin it up.....

Nobody is saying it can not be done at least im not. What im saying is will the reliability be there at the same HP levels? Only time will tell..

Run your drag built 9 second 4G63 for 2 hours at full throttle with 1.0+G's of braking accelerating and turning and come back to me with how often it runs into problems or needs rebuilding.

I don't think it would last more than 30 minutes...probably less than that. It would be interesting to see though.

a drag car wouldnt last 1 full minute in most cases.. they werent designed to either.. if your running a minute 1/4 mile you have more issues than you even know..
