Fuel dilution in oil problem
Ok, so I spoke with the oil testing company today, and there are some problems. They ran the test, and one category came back unusually high; guess which category. The guy tells me not to be alarmed, that the main machine used for oil testing is accurate for everything except fuel dilution (which I find very strange), and that they have a separate machine that will give more accurate results. Problem is, that machine is down for a couple of days and they have to send my sample to another lab in houston, so it won't be until monday or tuesday that I will have the official report. This is a little irritating, to say the least, but what can you do... Anyway, I will give the full report as soon as I have it.

^Well, the company that I sent it to is oil analyzers inc, and they are very good. I can't blame them for the machine being down, because that can happen to anyone, but it still sucks that I have to wait, especially after the alarming initial fuel percentages that came back in the first report.
Sti, I also sent my sample to oil analyzers a week ago. When I go their tracking page to view status, it says: "Some test results being confirmed." Is that the same message you got? Maybe they are sending my sample to Houston, too...
Anyway, my only mod is an Ecutek tune, so I'm interested to see how our samples compare and if a tune has any impact on the dilution issue.

Yep, exact same message. I had to call to get the info that I was given. I am really hoping that your results come back better than mine, because that will show that the cause of the issue is the overly rich A/F ratios of the stock tune. Post up your results as soon as you get them so we can compare. What kind of oil are you running, and how many miles were on the oil sample that you sent in?

Tis' True.... I called about this and The DC machine in Indianapolis went down. The samples were being sent to Houston until the machine is repaired.
This is one nice thing about dealing with a large Laboratory with multiple sites. 3 in the US and 1 in Canada.
Even with the DC machine down they still had a 91% turnaround time in 48 hrs compared to the previous 97%...
Anyone in business can appreciate a 91% in 48 hrs turnaround time even when a piece of equipment goes down.

Yep, never fails.... That is my luck usually.. If I am in a store at the register and you see me, pick another lane, as half the time the person in front of me will have an issue and I will get tied up... LOL
Goes to show though, that even when you are dealing with the top Testing Facility in the US, things can go wrong...
Remember, Humans built these machines..

One thing I have been thinking about..... Very few people blow out their oil cooler and lines on a change. With the high amount of fuel dilution, this may be a good practice to start as I believe there is almost a quart of oil in it. This is almost 20% of the whole amount of oil the engine holds.

As we talked about... You have changed cams and the "debris" could be from the cam lube.
Also, the way you described the "debris", as it will dissipate if rubbed between your fingers, you may have a coolant leak.
Everything is a Guessing Game unless you get an oil analysis performed, which a kit is on the way to you.
