The factory upper pipe isn't a solid design. It just replaces the IC top elbow piece and the reducer.

But no, you don't need a tune, but of course could benefit from one. Please do more research or call a reputable shop with these questions. None of us are getting paid to spoon feed you info.

You'll be fine without a tune. I have full exhaust with no tune, and my car runs great, but like someone above me mentioned, you would definitely benefit from one.

You don't need a tune, but why wouldn't you get one? IMO it's the best bang for your buck performance wise. Or are you just using the mods you have to catch attention looks, and sound wise?

the one main reason i havent gotten a tune is just because of the warranty. my frend who used to be a dealer mechanic told me even if yo flash it back to stock if something happens, the dealer can tell that the ecu has been altered and therefore can void your warranty. im a beginning college student and need this car to last me at least 5 or 6 years or 100,000 miles and i wouldnt have enough money to replace a blown tranny for example cuz anything could happen. i really do want that tune though lol i know i could use the extra torque

Yea your looking at around 60 extra whp =)..... I figure it this way, Mitsu "what warranty". Mitsu has a bad rep of backing their warrantys, so I figure its my problem either way. UICP, bov won't really add any power if thats what your looking for from them.

yeah ive heard a lot about how mitsu sucks with their warranties. oh i know the bov wont give me any gain infact it might actually make me loose a little power cuz it gves a little more of a turbo lag in between shifts. i dont wanna say the drop in filter gave me noticable diff n power but i def hear that intake sucking in air. yeah gains from a tune are sick but if something happens within the powertrain and i put the stock filter and bov on then its gonna be really hard for them to not cover my claim

You don't have to get a tune. BUT if you can afford one, you won't regret spending the money. I drove around with a drop-in and an UICP before getting my tune, and while those mods give you some decent gains (minus the SSQV,) the tune is really what makes the most difference.
