For my car, I do not Autocross. I take it to road courses. I also like to do the occasional drag race for fun. Thus, for my purposes, the lag on a 35r is nothing (I can downshift , and a red would be on the ragged edge for what I want HP wise (500+).
So my choices are, either build the engine with a red, add every possible bolt-on, port everything, run e85 (meaning I have to bring fuel with me to the track), etc.
Or, build the engine with a 35r kit. Run 93. Make the same power, with a ton of headroom on the turbo, and less stress on the engine due to much lower boost. All I loose is spool, which doesnt matter on the track or at the drag strip. And it'll make my city driving much slower, good for the speed tickets and gas mileage lol.

The overall cost between the two wasn't that large to begin with due to the extra work/hassle of getting a red to 500whp. And with the price hike, it's just not worth it to me anymore. A 6262 will get me there below 25psi. With much less work. And as a bonus, I'll be able to sell the bolt-ons that the kit replaces. So even less cost for the 35r kit.

I seconded that . I have a donation coming soon Tephra. I have been poking around in some of the V7 maps and hope to get the car back from the builder/tuner soon. Thanks for all your help, as always.

This price hike has me second guessing my turbo choices; this is a fact!

for a entire setup with manifold as talked about previously in this thread, you might as well get do some custom fab with a core charge and it would still be cheaper that the 35r.

and this custom work would be what? maybe 500 less than the 35 kit? And, it'll still just be an fp red, so it would cost even more due to the custom work. What's the point here?

This thread was made hopefully so someone from FP or with connections could explain the rationale for the price increase. And to let them know they lost a customer due to it.

So why are you harping on my post and not every person in this thread that hasnt provided the pertainant pricing information directly from FP?

For the record I have a direct contact there and could ask your question to them, but 1) not sure why you raised the question in this fashion rather than emailing or calling them directly? and 2) dont really want to do the leg work for you due to the above.

enjoy

i mean seriously 200 dollars and they lost some customer for that you spend more money on rims and a cd/head unit then 200 dollars. Thats pretty cheap increase to be honest.
