I need to do the same thing and am looking to swap my single exit AMS from axle back to some something that is quieter at wot. Lime Rock flags me when I am WOT even with the AMS as I hit 91 db on their tester. The limit is 89...

Please let me know what you come up with...single or twin If anyone wants to swap something quiet with me, let me know (sorry about the thread jack)

Would a magnaflow muffler be better or a vibrant ultra quiet resonator be better to be installed in the test-pipe?

get a good resonator, easy add on and basically no loss in performance.

it will still be loud WOT,but you will be able to keep it quiet cruising around if you want.

OP, you have several options. There are companies that make a mini muffler where the test pipe goes. The other option is getting an 18" resonator like Vibrant sells. When I had my Civic Si, I had a Vibrant cat-back along with a race header and hfc. I added a Vibrant 18" resonator and it really toned it down. A lot. I think if you had the mini muffler to replace the test pipe and a resonator, you would have a pretty decent sounding system.

have greddy tic with ams resonated testpipe.
huge difference between resonated and non-resonated.

its even more quieter than just the stock greddy ti-c catback

It sounds to me like the OP wants to keep his current Buschur exhaust. I think he is looking for ways to quiet it down, not buy another exhaust, at least it sounds like that to me.

I have the Vibrant Ultra Quiet mini muffler. It fits perfect and looks part of the system. With the Magnaflow CBE I was getting excessive freeway drone. The resonator killed it. I then added a Milspec 100 cell cat and an AMS DP. At idle its quiet as stock and WOT...just a touch of raspiness. I then swapped out the 100 cell cat for the UR resonated TP, anticipating more sound....now its too quiet

Im gonna go to a non-resonated TP or maybe even change the CBE...I need exhaust sound.

The 100 cell cat is for sale BTW.
