Venting valve cover

My car has issues with oil consumption and a local shop suggested that the engine isn't breathing well enough. I currently have dual catch cans with crank vents (check valves). The stock PCV is also in place (wasn't sure if it should be removed or not).

Has any other X owner needed to add additional fittings to their valve cover for venting?

I'm also considering trying one of the air/oil separator setups...GrimmSpeed and Beatrush have offerings.

A local down here was having what sounds to be a very similar situation at our last dyno day; completing removing the catch-can setup and running only with the crank vent setup 100% eliminated the issue. I would try this as a first step. The problem with a lot of catch-can setups is their inability to flow high amounts of air.

Here you go:

Just kidding...I would perform a leakdown, compression, and borescope test before drilling holes into my valve cover...

Hmm. These are the Boomba cans. That would obviously be easy to try.

Aftermarket Forged pistons increase oil consumption.

In my Evo VIII - I deleted the PCV and use the -AN valve cover fittings from STM. I also am using a JMFab catch can with -6AN lines.

This setup has worked great on my VIII (I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work as well on the X).

I'm losing over 1qt when I go to an HPDE. That seems a bit much.

Amsoil but it was burning conventional during engine break-in as well. The motor happily spits dipsticks if you don't underfill the oil so clearly it's a tighter motor than stock.

So many parts were installed during that build that it might take a little time to troubleshoot.
