FP Red or Black

Alright guys.. Really need some opinions on this decision let me give you where I am at right now.. I'm looking to do this setup very soon I have all my bolt-ons, ams intake, intercooler piping, greddy dual exhaust, ams widemouth downpipe, and act street clutch.. First of all they are both the same price. The FP Red from my understanding can produce up to 550-600whp and spools noticeably quicker then the FP Black. But once again they are the same price, so is the FP Black THAT much slower spooling then the FP Red?? I want my car to pull hard in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I won't be up the higher RPM's as often as I should be to get the FP Black but if it isn't that much slower then the Red spooling up then it's worth waiting for that spool.. I mean which one is going to win in the 1/4 mile drag honestly is the question? I mean is the Red going to spool that much quicker then the Black to beat it in the quarter? Thanks guys, I appreciate the help in advance.

Here are some threads between the black and red.

Have you thought about going with any other turbos or is it just limited to the Red and Black? I've heard some pretty good things with the CBRD BBX and the HKS GTII

600whp on a Red? LOL.

I think you have been looking at uber maxed out drag setups in the evo 8/9 section.

The most a red has seen on a fully built setup for the X is like 530ish with maybe 550whp being possible.

A black will do 600whp though and spools up slightly slower.

And the 1/4 mile depends on the driver between the two. If you have the same good driver on both the black will own.

I think it would be possible, but not very far past 600. When I slapped the ID2000's in, I got in the 550 range on E70. Keep in mind that my tune was merely on 32psi...

32 or 36 wouldn't matter much. up top where peak power is made you will still be down around 28psi-30psi.

Even if you could make that number you would never want to run that all the time. For the minimal spool difference if you really want those numbers go black for a much safer/easier time at big numbers.

And last i checked the south doesn't get E70. (FL where AWD is located)

Unless you brought gas from elsewhere.

I am in Virginia... unforunately we get 70 here in the winter months too. My power curve was another flat line after 5500ish rpms, so with more boost it would get more of a peak, and fall off like yours does because she's running out of breath.

I do concur on the go for the black comment though, just because it would be easier to make the numbers without as much work on the turbo.

Where can you find a FP Black for $1600? They are $2000 everywhere I've seen.

My plan is either the fp black, 1000cc injectors, and fuel pump OR fp red, 1000cc injectors, and fuel pump.. BOTH on pump gas also, what will my numbers look like with both and suggestions if i should get bigger cams or what not, i was told double fuel pumps is not necessary since i am only running on pump gas..

numbers on pump will be similar and bigger cams will get bigger gains typically. 1000cc and a single walbro will support up to 500awhp which is more than the red or black can do on pump gas.

Not exactly true.... I'll be well over 500 on 93 here shortly.

Currently 450-26psi
+5% displacement (2.1L)
+ tubular manifold
+ another 3-4 psi

Should break 500 without a sweat.
