AMS Downpipe, worth it?
Sounds like your question has been answered but here is my .02
That is correct that $500 is alot of money for a simple 15-20 whp BUT, if you ever drive an Evo X that does have one, you will notice a significant difference in the response/spool up of the turbo. The butt dyno will def tell the difference as well =)

My first mod was a resinated tp. No power gain. Installed the ams dp, no power gain. Between those 2 mods and figuring out how to use the 2step, i gained 2 tenths on the 1/4.
Try 0hp. I'm not sure why you think an aftermarket DP will get you that much power on the stock turbo.
I saw 2 cars dyno'd and tuned back to back, with the only change in mods an aftermarket downpipe. There was a 0 hp difference between the 2 cars after they were each tuned.
You guys talk about gaining power before the tune, who cares! It's all about the #'s after the tune. Now, if you are running higher boost with E85, or plan to intall an aftermarket turbo, then sure a downpipe will provide hp gains. It's also not a bad idea to do the entire exhaust at the same time if you plan on doing either of those in the future.
I agree there is probably some difference is spool and response, but please stop saying there is a difference in hp with a normal bolt-on car. You are spreading misinformation.

Wow looks like I've been misinformed!
