i wish i had gotten a baseline before i put my exhaust on. but i'm at a fairly high altitude running 94 and when they compared my car with another bone stock mr they got a widly diffrent number

they claimed 218 hp on the stock 2010 mr on the same dynodynamics dyno
my dyno including tune ended up at 281ish with ams down pipe ams test pipe and invidia q300 cat back. as well as the other items in my sig.

remember i'm near 4000ft above sea level and the day they dyno'ed my car they were only able to get a max of 25.3 psi out of the stock turbo..it was simply out of breath.

ps on a really nice day cool but lower humidity my boost will hit high 26's almost 27. i guess it's limited to 28.5 in the tune. from what i was told.

The quality of the AMS down pipe is outstanding. I have the AMS one though so maybe im biased. Just pulled it off the car, as I went back to stock and the only difference to it from the day it was put on is color from heat.

We get a decent amount of feedback from the guys over English Racing. Lately they have been doing a fair amount of downpipe installs. We have also done some back to back recirculated vs dump to atmosphere tests. The dump to atmosphere downpipes always make around 10-15whp more HP than a recirculated setup. It doesn't matter who's it is, the dump to atmosphere just make more power.

I would stay away from any of the downpipes that are not divided. A divided exhaust and wastegate flow path is critical. This prevents a decent amount of turbulence and allows the exhaust system to flow smoothly without interference of wastegate gases.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

Thanks,

Michael

Michael.... kinda disappointed. Normally when any DP question pops, you normally throw in the cool animation...

I personally was looking for as Quiet, highest flowing exhaust as i could get.. so if i had gone with an open dump... would that be over 89 dbl?
I'm fairly sure that i have exactly what my goal was.. pretty quiet but also high flowing.. but maybe i'm way out to lunch..

Dump to atmosphere downpipes are not for the feint of heart. They are loud, very loud, scary loud even lol.

You will be well over that dB rating.

I love my ets dp. Their design looks best engineered imo and why I went with them. Everyone comments positively on my setup, most are wide eyed and say it sounds wickedly scary. Most unknowing non car enthusiasts will have a frightened expression when that wastegate opens.

sorry to sound noob, but for the 'wastegate 02 dump to atmosphere' type DP's - it only screams under boost right? i don't want my car to be too loud while cruising

The first expression to the unsuspecting is always the best.
