What are the odds of Catostrophic failure lol

I wanna run my car for one more year without going to a sleeved block. The car will see about 3k miles next year and will only be tracked/dragged one weekend.

I am unsleeved , car is fully built otherwise and putting donw 630 at the wheels right now.

My plan is to go E85 for next year and push the power to 700 at the wheels. I am hoping that running E with a 6765 turbo spooling a little later and a little less violently will keep the block intact for one more year.

I realize this is a risk and if it stretches a sleeve and I have to take it down for a motor build that is ok with me. What I dont want is a catostrophic failure taking out everything and making my build far more expensive.

What does everyone think the odds of occurance are. Do you think it will hold for 3k miles of spirited driving? Do you think it will stretch a sleeve and start to smoke ? Do you think it will explode into a million bits?

I really wish there were more guys pushing big numbers on the stock block so we had a better idea of whats possible.

Edit: Just looked at what's in the car.

You're pushing 630whp with what...probably somewhere around 440wtq? Fully built crank/rods/pistons, I bet you would be fine. When you want to start getting close to 500wtq and breaking 700whp, then yeah, sleeves would probably be a necessity. Some guys will say you need them now, but you don't hit peak torque until around 5000rpm anyway. Worst case...if something is going to fail at that power level, yeah it'll be the sleeves and you'll need a stronger set. But you're probably good on the rotating assembly...I wouldn't even worry about sending a rod through the block.

My motor blew in july. cylinder #3 rod snapped. sendin the piston into my valves. and sending the rod into my t-case. lucky the bracket supporting the turbo stopped it. or id be buying a t-case. i suggest. if u have the money. and do not wana go throu the trouble/pain. you should pull it. send it to map and get it sleeved. thats one less thing to worry bout then u have alot of room to make safe power with no issues.

thats what im doin. stage 2. sleeved. 2.0L turbo tuff rods and crank.

sleeved block isnt going to save you from a busted rod dude , I'm not worried about my rotating assembly , just the stock block

425 wtq and I'm going to keep it to about 475 wtq with the E85 tune. I'm not worried about sending a rod through the block but if you crack a sleeve and hydrolock the motor its gonna wreck everything. Stretching a sleeve is an acceptable risk to me. I just dont wanna break one

All I can say is post up here before you go dyno, I wanna see this car in person!

For 3k miles I would risk it personally. ETS made like 800whp on their stock sleeved drop in rod/piston motor and made a 9sec pass. It can be done. It's not ideal but it can be done.

You need to sign up on the local evo boards dude! Start with mitsustyle.com

I'll hit you up when I'm coming down and you can check it out. You still got your car or did someone bite on it yet?

I was meaning to get on mitsustyle but never got around to it. I'll have to sign up and introduce myself one of these days.

We have a dynoday at MAP this saturday, you should come down. Throw your car on the dyno, only like 50 bucks. Health check it .

But yea, start a build thread or something on mitsustyle, plenty of us there to help you out.

I still have my car, put new fuel system in and went to the track. Just enjoying it now

Decided I would spend too much money if I switch cars because I will mod the new one just as much.

bummer , I gotta work this weekend. I'll start a thread over there when I join. I'm not sure selling these cars is ever gonna be a good move.....finding someone to trade one to for something that suits your tastes at the time is a better move I think.

I'd like to be in a modded GTR in the next 5 years and hopefully I can find somone who sees the value in this car and wants to take it with some cash on top for a nice Godzilla.
