Apparently I am now an official member of the ACD – AYC failure group. I guess I should count myself is one of the lucky ones I have 90,000 miles on the original unit.

Is it really just the electric motor that fails in these units I would not think the whole unit would need to be replaced. This seems to be an expensive problem. perhaps there is a simple solution. Does anyone know what the number one failure is of these units I am mechanically inclined I'm going to attempt to remove the motor and to see if there is anything obvious that an oil and clean job will not take care of.
These guys used to have an ACD pump rebuild kit but they are in the process of handing that part of their business over to another party. They should have their site updated with more information at some point.

Hey Everyone, please file an official complaint. (takes 5 mins online) I contacted NHTSA about this and this is what I got back.

Thanks for visiting our page. NHTSA is aware of the issue that you reference concerning all wheel control pumps on 2008 – present Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles. Our experts will continue to review information related to this issue and take appropriate action if warranted. If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to file an official complaint with us on our website (https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/) or by calling our Vehicle Safety Hotline Monday-Friday (8 am to 8 pm ET) at (888) 327-4236 TTY: (800) 424-9153. The complaint needs to be file on an official government website, we cannot receive a complaint through any type of social media.

is this more prevalent with the X's? I know a good amount of 8-9s that have had failures, not sure how the Xs are holding up
