Just got it back from the dealer, the service manager admitted to knowing of the 2-3 issue but also says that Mitsu will not admit to it. CMC was done yesterday and now the engagement point is totally different, like right off the carpet. Got a little better since I've driven it about 10 miles, but I need to readjust definitely. I don't mind it though, it feels more like it should be.

I would get it done no matter what, i'd hope that nothing else would happen if CMC goes bust but who knows...

Yeah it's really deep, but not really, to be honest I actually like it better. Before when i would even rest my foot on the clutch pedal I felt like i was never fully off it. Now there is a bit of a dead zone from 80% to 100% off the floor so even if i rest my foot it doesn't feel like im riding the clutch at all. Hard to explain but it is better.
The actual pedal feels a little more responsive now, like I am getting some feedback vs. stock where it was a mute lifeless pedal no matter where in travel it was. I would get the recall performed.
While the engagement point is very low its better for daily and traffic driving. Now I can barely let up and start rolling, where as before i'd need to be at about 50% to feel it start to engage. Better for fast starts from a dig also.
All in all i'm pretty happy, but 2-3 grind is still there (not as prominent though)

I know exactly what youre talking about since I rest my foot on the clutch as well. Once, I thought my cruise control was broken since it wouldnt activate bec my foot is lightly pressing on the clutch. Anyway, thanks for the cmc replacement feedback.

No problem, glad someone understood, it always makes way more sense in your head. Update also, the catch point did get a little higher. Either that or I've gotten used to it already.

Instead of starting a totally new thread, I guess asking here would be appropriate since several of you have already had this done.

I had my car in for the CMC recall all week. Took it in Monday morning, got it back Thursday after work. My dealership is only doing 1-2 a week, because it's "such a large job."

My question is, does anyone know exactly what is involved in the replacement? It doesn't appear my battery was disconnected at all, which I would think would be a normal step if they're doing something huge like this? I'm just sort of skeptical...my clutch feels about the same as when I took it in, all I really notice is 5 more miles on it than when I dropped it off.

Any thoughts?

That's weird. My car was done within 7 hours, I dropped it before work and picked it up around 5. Battery was disconnected also, had to reset my radio stations. Judging from most peoples responses, the clutch does engage at a different point and feel a little different than before.
I would bring it back in to another dealer to confirm it was actually done, or call Mitsubishi and have them investigate it.

Man, I feel sorry for you guys. My dealership did my CMC, new aftermarket clutch and 3port install all within 9 hours, plus my clutch pedal engagement point is exactly where it was before. As for the battery, it most definitely should have been disconnected - I'd be very worried about the job a mechanic did if that wasn't done.

Wonderful. I mean I guess they could have made sure the clutch had the original feel, but if the battery had to be disconnected...then I would imagine they didn't actually do anything haha. Do the new/old CMC's look any different? THe car only has 5k miles on it, so realistically the original shouldn't look super worn I wouldn't think. What a pain...this dealership is generally pretty highly regarded around here too :/

IMO, if replacing your CMC takes your dealership 3 days, not hours...they aren't that good. At all.

I guess I should clarify. I dropped it off Monday morning, they currently had one in for the recall, and didn't start on mine until Wednesday afternoon. It was finished Thursday afternoon. So it really just took a day, but I have seen lots of people saying that is pretty common for this job.

Ah, ok, that's still quite a while though. Good thing we don't have to pay for these...
