Hey all, have a 14 GSR, and before I do any mods I would like to know what I am working with here as its a fairly new platform to me. I have looked into it a bit and came up with mixed results. Some have said the rods are the weak side and some have said its just the block, and some have said few things in between. To simply put, what is the safe limit for motor? Boost/HP/TQ? Assuming its a daily car that is well maintained but driven hard? What would be required to get 450Awhp?
Stock turbo full bolt-on tuned 26-28 PSI 93 Pump you should be around 340 to 350 WHP,
to achieve 450 WHP u will need Full bolt on with New Turbo, Injector , and fuel pump.
To make it safe and reliable on stock block most people just kept torque below 350
with bigger turbo.

Many have and still run 350-380 tq on the stock block for a long time. The main thing that takes play here is the tune. A smooth torque curve will be safe on your motor.. however MANY and I mean MANY tuners that are used to tuning Evo 8-9's and say they are great a tuning the X are simply not. So look out for a tuner/shop that has a VERY good track record with X's and not just the shops that build crazy HP X's for drag strips as they never last long and you don't hear about them blowing up.
Factory 4B11T weak point is a factory connecting rods, other then that is a bullet proof engine around your goal hp.
So keep that in mind when you start raising stress on the engine. Other then that, i think it is an awesome engine. And do a smoother and better power delivery then a 4G63T.
Specially if your goal is 450whp. But i have to say for DD that is a lot already.
You don't have to baby the car, it is very strong and reliable. Just maintain it well. You might want a bit more focus on the maintenance when you have 450 whp.
Also keep it in mind , when you raise hp like this (450 from 300) there are also many things you need to upgrade . For an example the stock clutch. So plan it safe, and properly, then you will not have a problem at all.

300 is bhp and 450 is whp. So you are actually increasing it from around 250whp to 450whp.

WELL, I AM JUST WERE YOU WANT TO BE FOR A DD, 400whp, 359trq,at 31psi, super safe, super reliable. I have a EF2 turbo, upgraded fuel pmp and injectors, FMIC and piping, ACT sty 2 clutch. The spooling is insane in this little *** turbo, I highly recommend you EF 2, fp green, or EF2.5. I can go higher on pwr but what is the point...the respond of the car is crazy not to mention anything after 400whp on stock internals is asking to push rods down on your block... GL with your new set up.
