acd/ayc pump fail

Is it OK to drive if the pump failed, I'm getting the "flashing" tarmac on my dash so assuming its done.

Yes, but pulling the power is wise, so you don't burn out the motor.

I said that, too. But after a while you come to accept the fact that an Evo X with a dead pump is really not an Evo. In fact, it's a tad worse than a 2G DSM, since the DSM, at least, had VCs on the center and rear. At that point you start googling used pumps and find that the only place selling them on eBay is in Miami and they have a terrible rep for selling broken stuff and not giving refunds. So you suck it up and pay the $1400 for a new one.

The real question is whether you are putting the new pump back in the original location or moving it to the trunk. Right now, the only OTS relocation option is around $600 and comes from the UK. But, within a month or two, there may be a second option from here in the States. Patience.

Yea I know the feeling, timing chain already went out and spent 1400 on that 2months ago, does have over 70000 miles so I guess its not that bad, I keep hearing these pumps fail due to faulty design/location. wish Mitsu would just recall em.. wishful thinking though

Yes, the pump is used to actuate clutches that lock things together. In the center, it locks the diff; in the rear it either locks the right axle to a shaft turning slower than the input or to a shaft turning faster than the input.

We relocate the pump because putting something expensive and important that likes to corrode under the car, behind the right rear wheel is stupid.

Great reply. Thank you. Where can we see this relocation kit? Also with that being said I presume a bleeding procedure would be in order? Would that entail us to go to the dealer like stated above?

Please note that you're asking questions that have been answered many times before.

The only OTS relocation kit right now is from Autotorque.

Yes, you have to bleed after working/moving the pump.

Dealer or someone with EvoScan + an extra or someone with a tester/bleeder box.

There may be a new relocation option in a few months, yes. But, right now, it's internet vaporware, so it's not worth discussing.
