Hey guys first time poster, quick question?

I am just starting getting into tuning my 2015 ralliart and i am seeking the sound of the turbo flutter.

Is said flutter bad for the system? I seem to get mix results from my research.

 

Flutter is usually compressor surge.
Happens when the blow off or diverter valve doesnt fully bleed off boost pressue and causes that pressure to rush back into the turbo causing the compressor wheel to either stop or stop and spin backward.

Not good for the turbo.

 

When you let off the gas while boosting, the bpv/bov doesn't let any/enough air out of the system and pressurized air has no where to go but back into the compressor outlet which causes the turbo to stall, thus you get that fluttering noise. On a daily driver: Yes, people will think your flutter is awesome, but some might laugh at you as you're killing your turbo. Personally I wouldn't go for that flutter because
1) turbo rebuild could cost upwards of 500.
2) your Ralliart isnt a high boosting Supra / R34.
Instead, I would get an aftermarket blow of valve and vent to atmosphere if you really want people to notice your turbo.
