help with clutch return

So I bought a brand new Clutch Master FX400 6 puck clutch and brought my car to the mechanic to get it changed. I was then told by the mechanic that the clutch I got was defective. He said that the lock ring attached to the pressure plate failed while talking about the push/pull kinda clutch the car has.

I don't have much knowledge about clutches and the site that I bought the clutch from is asking me to explain the defect. Has anyone had this experience? Or can anyone help me explain this defect?

Thanks.

ClutchMasters support is suppose to be on point. You should have the mechanic explain the issue to them, for all you know, they could have been the ones to mess things up. Any decent mechanic would have no issue explaining the problem to the manufacturer.
