Best Motoring X vs IX Battle
Geez.
Here we go again.
In response to the recent news,
I am bit disappointed with that Xs, IX, STI, TypeS(?) video. Aside from that lame *** Type S, the X gen. got owned. The IX had the 5spdmtX in his way when the race started and had to move to the side of the 5spdmtX and flew past that s***. I was NOT surprised to see that. VERDICT: OWNED vs 5spdGSR & X-SST.

nope, the hatch sti is a bit heavier
Did anyone else notice that the driver of the 5-speed X just about stalled off the line, you can see the tach and it drops way down before recovering. What an idiot...I am not saying it is as fast as a 9 but damn I have gotta give it a little more credit than what was shown here because that was all driver error.
your right and wrong at the same time, the 08 STI (jdm spec is lighter), the USDM spec is 40lbs heavier than the USDM 07 STI, nothing major, its like comparing a half full tank of gas to a full tank of gas in the car
After watching the video a couple more times I will say that you won't see me buying an SST because if it starts screwing up that bad at stock power levels imagine what it will do if you try to mod the X to make more power. That is a seriously expensive disaster waiting to happen. The video makes it appear as though the X does have an edge over the nine from mid corner out until it hits a straight. Look at how the X is running up the IX's rear bumper coming out of the corner at the 5:00 mark. I know it is all speculation but I would bet that the 5 speed would have been a hell of a lot closer given a better start and driver. I think the IX will be a touch quicker around a track stock but with a couple simple mods to help the acceleration of the x on the straights I would bet on the X 5-Speed. I know this video is a little disapointing but considering all the extra weight and lack of extra power I think the 5-speed did ok and has better potential than the IX due to the fact that it is so overweight stock and it has more room for improvement. The big question is how the engine will handle mods compared to the 4G63.
A couple of things;
1) The SST transmission *clearly* has issues - it's faster for the first two/three laps and then dies,
2) There are 5 different drivers,
3) They aren't the versions most of us will be driving
Whilst it doesn't look good, I'll be waiting until a comparison of the vehicles available in my market. By that time, hopefully some of the obvious issues will be resolved.

IMO, I do not mind whatever numbers they come up with the new evo or sti.... when stock. The beauty and passion of these rally cars is when they are modded, not factory stock.
So basically the big question is how the completely new layout (engine/drivetrain/chassis) of both cars will result after mods.

I just personally think that
motors made a BIG mistake in trying to achieve the best of both worlds. One having a full luxury stigma integrated with the "Evo" platform...jus wont work. Then to add to that, the car is much heavier, and that SST thingy needs some more engineering to me.
To be honest guys, I would never invest into a new product from a company like
, not been disrespectful, but I'll rather take my chances with Toyota or even Honda and to prove my point, it took over ten iterations for
to perfect a real sports car:
Evo 1
Evo 2
Evo 3
Evo 4
Evo 5
Evo 6
Evo 6.5 (Tommy Makinen)
Evo 7
Evo 8
Evo 8.5 (MR)
Evo 9
Evo 9.5 (MR)
Think u got my point.....

It is not the driver, it is not the track, it is not the weather, just accept the fact that Mitsu went in the wrong way and the Evo X is a big disappointment.
my mistake, at first when i read your post i thought you said "the evo IX with the 5spdtrans", now that i read it again, i see what you're sayin
if anyone attempts to judge or compare the X to any other car from this video,
YOU ARE NUTZZZ !!!!
Thats right, there were so many circuimstances, that would make this an exercise in futility,
In order to fairly compare anything to anything else, the circumstances or environment, have to be very controlled, here, they were anything but.
Don't get mad if you feel like i am talking like i was trying to explain something to a 5-year old. Example (simplified scientific method):
Hypothesis: EVO IX is faster than EVO X in straight line 1/4 mile results
Test: yes, do a 1/4 mile pull on drag strip
Results: interpret result accordingly,
Assumptions: same driver, same track, same day, both cars are healthy, all other small details to ensure fairness and to minimize margin of error
*this method can be applied to make any other statements already out there, except for subjective opinions such as "Evo 9 is better looking than Evo X" which should actually be " Personally, I think the 9 is hotter than 10"
Conclusion: ALL of the tests and posted 0-60 times, track times, etc, are flawed and need to be taken very lightly until such time that some very solid/controlled comparison tests are done. This track video is probably the most convoluted, unpractical, unfair, flawed way to judge any car against the other.
I am not X lover or as i have stated in othe posts in this section, i will believe it when i see it, feel it drive it, I am not writing off a car that has not even been officially released yet, anyone that does is just looking for something to ***** about, so go ahead and *****.

did you read what i just wrote?
how about taking drivers for one, as someone pointed out? lets just take that, what if the driver of the STI had a cold, or missed a shift, or was tripping on LSD and wasnt to his full potential, would it be fair then say the the STI sucks or is a crappy car?
