Evo X And Sti Doomed ?
Quote :We're upon 2008 and you kids need to walk on a car lot and check out prices. There isn't (1) car out there with as much HP and AWD that's any less than the EVO and STI.
Are you kidding? Pontiac G8 GT, 365 HP, faster 0-60 time (unconfirmed), base model is 28K, fully loaded is 33K. Although not comparable platforms there is plenty of competition!!!!

G35x, 335XI, 135, Volvo S40, R32, IS350, A4, mustang GT ,Sabb 9-3x, STI, mazdaspeed 6 ect
The evo X is a low- mid 5sec car running a 14 sec 1/4 mile trapping 96-98mph so almost of all these cars are competition.

Yes, both EVO or Sti does offer a lot of bang for the buck. However, incresing its price is just not right.
Now Mitsu is aiming to turn heads from non-fan based audiences with this X..AWD, roomy 4dr sedan with 300hp turbo engine in it.. So consumers are ready to put down $40K on Mitsu product just because it out performs same catigorized sedans? ..and while people already knowing that there are no significant performance upgrade from previous generation? NO.
And comparing X's value with cars that came out 10 years ago like Supra, RX7 is just not right man...
If answered yes, then I guess everyone should be happy about $3.50 tag on a gallon of gas while it was only a buck 10 years ago..

If that's your goal then look elsewhere.

well if your only definition of performance runs 1/4 mile at a time, then your right, there's plenty of competition. But where was it ever written (with the exception of EvoM's keyboard dragracer's) that the Evo (I to X) was ever designed and engineered to get the best trap-speed. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Japanese automotive engineer who gives a flying f#ck about our apparent version of what makes a performance car.

). A lot of people are obsessed with drag racing here and if you are looking for a 0-60 drag racing machine then yeah, there are cheaper and better options out there. But here is the thing, Lancer Evo nor STI were never designer as 0-60 time as their primary and most important goal. It's all about AWD and chassis control, it's something that a lot of American kids seem to have no clue about.
Couldn't said it any better
Kids signing up on evoM forums, talking about how Evo X is too expensive have no clue what Lancer Evolution is all about (some compare Evo to a freaking Pontiac G8

it's all up to the person. some people don't want to take a chance dealing with other peoples' headaches, especially on a performance car that has been beat.
