Evo X And Sti Doomed ?
i would never buy the first year of a new platform
and thats NOT considering....
its on a dodge caliber chassis
it has a slower 1/4 time than the more inexpensive caliber srt4
taillights look like a RSX angled, rear door line looks like a TSX, design doesnt do it for me....
AND MOST OF ALL...That it has a non-4g63-which is like a woman without a cl|t! it just aint right!

First off the EVO X shares its basic underbody architecture with a variety of Chrysler products, and so what? Who cares it still handles like a champ and stops on a dime. Perhaps it would matter, if the EVO I through EVO IX always had it's own unique chassis, but it never has, now has it. Please don't forget that the Evolution is called the Lancer Evolution for a reason
.Also the EVO X should be a 13 second car, and I haven't seen any tests of 13 second Caliber SRT-4. And again who cares if the Caliber SRT-4 is quicker in a straight line, you want to go fast in a straight line stick with a IX or VIII or buy a new Camaro
Also, styling is always in the eye of the beholder, and those two cars that you mentioned (RSX and TSX) have been on many top 10 car lists for different automotive magazines for years now. I guess I just don't find the EVO X resembling parts of those cars as insulting
Your last comment is the dumbest of all. I am a huge 4G63 fan myself, but I myself know it couldn't last forever especially in today's automotive market. You sound like a disgruntle 5.0 or LS1 previous owner, and last time I checked the Mustang is doing just fine and the Camaro is poised for a comeback. My point get the f*ck over it, the 4G63 had an awesome run, and will go down as one of the best engines ever. Sh*t, your like a little whiny.....
Yea i worked at a mitsu dealer that under-
last i heard mitsu sold off 49% of the company to try and pull them out of debt. A majority of that 49% was to Diamler Chrysler (chrysler/dodge/diamler-benz)....
And WHO WOULDA THOUGHT....the evo 10 has a lot of diamler chrysler (dodge) parts on it! It also shares parts with some upcoming dodge cars.

Ugh, billyblonco go away. Look, if you don't like the new EVO, then don't buy it. Why do you have to incescently complain about the car and say how much better you think the 9 is? It's getting really old, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that your views on the new car are quite clear and have been for a while, so go back to the regular evo threads and get out of the X section.
Im not bashing the X, My question is since mitsu and subaru are moving their cars upmarket will the X and STI have the same fate as the RX-7,300ZXtt, and SUPRA by becoming to expensive.
I know the power ratings of that motor, I also know its SOHC configuration, I was just fantasizing about Mitsubishi offering a 3.0l DOHC twin-turbo motor. Mitsubishi over 10 years ago was able to pull off 320HP from it's 3.0l DOHC twin-turbo engine. In 2007, even BMW with its 335i 3.0l twin-turbo can't really match it.

Actually Mitsu. had that engine configuration 15 years ago (3.0LTT)but keep in mind that the 3000GT with AWD and V6 weighed in at close to 4000 pounds. And that was before any US regulated side and head airbag requirements.
Interesting idea but I doubt they'd ever install it in an Evo. Maybe the next gen/ Galant?

A more likely scenario is the NA 6b31 or variant as a future upgrade to the base Lancer to put it on par with other sedans in it's size range. The only problem is I think the 6b31 has the intake and exhaust reversed from the 4b11.
They really need to bring over the Colt and create another body class that fits in between it and the Lancer.
Agreed. OE's like to use forced induction smaller displacement engines in order to meet stringent CAFE standards. By jamming a V6 that requires more gas to run into a small mass produced car (not to mention the added weight which adds to poorer fuel economy), any OE would have to pay taxes out the whazooo for each car made. Obviously not a smart move if you want to stay in business.
I would think Mitsu would have more plans for the 6b31 than just the Outlander. If they could create a 6b31t, put it on the Evolution platform, have it break 400hp stock and price it for less than $50k they could probably sell it as a limited edition car. Maybe as a last year Evolution X before they move the name to a smaller platform. I'm not sure they have the luxury to do that yet but we can hope.

Audi A5...
Quattro AWD
Respectable 260hp/240+lb torque
Starting at $39,000. S Line Sports package upgrade 2k+ = $41,900.
Don't know about you, but that's a pretty reasonable alternative to the MR given the sexy styling of the A5 and all the standard features. Not to mention that it's a coupe as well...
Plus, I can always drop a turbo in if I REALLY feel the need to go any faster.
This is all contingent of course on the MR actually hitting the 40k mark, but I'm about 90% sure I'll be getting an A5 now. I fear the X will be quite a disappointment no matter how much I want to believe otherwise. Maybe somewhere in that 10%
will sway me back the other way.
