^^^yep. and I'll bet billyblonco knows this already (or by doing a little research that's readily available) but like a lot of members on these forums, just like to rant and rave through their keyboard.

back then the viii was similar to acceleration compared to the X, according to

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...8&postcount=42

EDIT: just remembered, the acceleration times for the X was most likely a JDM model...and the motor trend X acceleration was an X that had engine "issues"...so as of now there are not that many US acceleration runs on a good and healthy X to make a good "average" of what it can do

I beg to differ Motor Trend got 4.6 0-60 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...cer_evolution/ In a heat match, we spanked an '03 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra coupe. Not bad for a turbo four-banger with a base price of $28,978

Can the evo X beat a mustang?

Just so we're clear, the '06 Evo IX when last sold in '06 without the SS pkg. was $32,500. The '08 GSR according to Mitsu. reps will start around $34,000. So if we break out our trusty abacus, that gives us a price difference of $1500.
So unless calander years are now moving backwards and inflation has suddenly ended, yes you do need to search a little.

The evo X is a low- mid 5sec car running a 14 sec 1/4 mile trapping 96-98mph so almost of all these cars are competition.
Actually latest C&D test puts it at 5.0 0-60 and 13.8 @ 102 1/4 mile for the X GSR 5MT. The X MR TC-SST may be even quicker for all we know. Also, of that list, you can cross off each save the STI in the handling department. Also, if the importance of handling of my car was secondary instead of primary, I wouldn't be thinking of buying an Evo. I know the Evo can be made deadly fast in a straight line, but that's not the MAIN reason I bought mine.

The Ford RS looks like a baby cockroach.
Maybe it's because of the antennas.

I can't really say the EVO and STI are doomed. Maybe to some of us enthusiast, but judging by interest sparked at the auto show for both of these cars, I am sure they will find their market. And what market are we talking about, like 5,000 to 6,000 or so cars a year, Nissan sells more 350Zs in a month. So it isn't like Mitsubishi is expecting the EVO to be the meat and potatoes of its car division. Also while I wish the EVO X had the same performance of the EVO IX if not better, you can not win on performance a lone. So many of us EVO IX and EVO VIII owners are so quick to forget that our cars had some really big holes to fill. Sure performance wise our cars are some of the best bang for the buck that money can buy, but the rest of the package isn't there. I've been doing an intensive study comparing vehicles (for a research essay), and one vehicle I compared the EVO IX to was a IS350. As I expected the EVO IX simply dominated all performance categories (it wasn't even close) yet overall I had to rate it lower than the IS350 because the IS350 just had more of a complete package. Believe me I was shocked, especially since my ratings placed such an emphasis on performance and yet the EVO IX still came out the loser (barely). Still before we go all gloom and doom on Mitsubishi I hope us enthusiast can at least wait to see what the EVO XI has to offer. I mean the fact that Mitsubishi has addressed so many daily driving, build, and comfortability issues means that now Mitsubishi can focus on increasing the performance for the next generations. It really shouldn't be that difficult to extract more performance out of a EVO for future generations, especially after all the difficult tasks have been taken care of.

Also the price increase isn't really as big as you would expect. Your talking about an increase of what a couple thousand. I believe the base GSR EVO X will be just under $35,000 and the MR fully loaded (wow never thought I ever say fully loaded and EVO in the same sentence, LOL) is like $38,000 to $39,000 (not counting dealer markups). The EVO IX GSR was around $32,000 to $33,000 MSRP and the EVO IX MR was just under $36,000 MSRP. So yes we are talking about a couple of grand, and that really isn't huge, considering all the new technology involved in the EVO X and what not. If anybody should complain, it should Subaru owners, because honestly performance wise the 08 STI is just mildly better than a 07 STI, overall the 08 STI is just mildly better than a 07 STI, the car is extremely uglier, and yet the price has risen significantly.

Also just FYI for the peeps who don't know. Mitsubishi is now in the black, and sales through Novemember 2007 (11 months) have already exceeded the entire 12 months of 2006 (a 13.3% increase in sales volume). I am not gonna say Mitsubishi has completely rid itself of money problems, but money isn't as big of an issue now as it was in 2003 through 2006.

i would never buy the first year of a new platform

and thats NOT considering....

its on a dodge caliber chassis
it has a slower 1/4 time than the more inexpensive caliber srt4
taillights look like a RSX angled, rear door line looks like a TSX, design doesnt do it for me....
AND MOST OF ALL...That it has a non-4g63-which is like a woman without a cl|t! it just aint right!

Yea i worked at a mitsu dealer that under-

last i heard mitsu sold off 49% of the company to try and pull them out of debt. A majority of that 49% was to Diamler Chrysler (chrysler/dodge/diamler-benz)....

And WHO WOULDA THOUGHT....the evo 10 has a lot of diamler chrysler (dodge) parts on it! It also shares parts with some upcoming dodge cars.

Ugh, billyblonco go away. Look, if you don't like the new EVO, then don't buy it. Why do you have to incescently complain about the car and say how much better you think the 9 is? It's getting really old, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that your views on the new car are quite clear and have been for a while, so go back to the regular evo threads and get out of the X section.
