If you're talking about rail dust then your wrong. It's not a factory problem. It comes from when cars are being shipped. It can happen to any car, make or model. Most dealers will notice the problem and fix it. On my car, it was PB and hard to notice.

My dealer had no problem fixing the problem for me. It is a fairly common problems with new cars. Make sure you get it off before it permanently damages the paint.
Damn, wish I heard about this earlier since I had Lasik just after getting my car and couldn't really go over it with a fine tooth comb until last week. I finally got around to bringing this to the dealers attention and they did a diamond care cleanup of the car for free. It was really hard for me to remove the spots using Maguire's Paint Cleaner but they were able to clean up 99% of the "rail dust".

Sadly because the hood gets hotter from being driven there are some permanent discolorations in the clear coat in a few spots. Granted nobody would see them without actively searching for them so I've decided to not worry about it anymore. It's less noticeable than patching up rock chips with touchup paint and that is going to happen to the front end eventually.

But still, it sucks that they didn't catch it before delivery and prevent the damage in the first place.

As for rock chips in front of my rear wheel wells, so far I have zero and the Aero kit is working good to prevent then in that location.

hmm this could make me fork over the extra cash for the aero kit. I think it only looks good when lowered and with wider rims, just seems to give it those extra "lines" that set it apart.... Ahh, decisions decisions.

Those with problems on the EVO X, you can use the following link to file a formal complaint with the NHTSA. the process only took me 5 minutes.

OK, so the aero kit prevents the chipping in front of the rear wheel wells?
What else would you guys recommend to preserve the paintjob for someone looking to pick up a new X?

So, I finally installed some clear bra and it came out real well. 5 year warranty and if it goes through the clear bra, its still covered. Here's the finished product.

It's been doing its job b/c I've seen the white smear marks from rocks on the clear bra. All I have to do is just wipe it off.

Do you guys have clear bra on the front?
Also, will the wax they use at regular car washes be good for this car?

i have clear on mine (08 lancer GTS) and i don't trust the wax at the regular car washes... they last barely a week... i would invest in getting some synthetic wax and apply a couple of layers every few months..
