I had my car repainted last week and the body guy said that mitsubishi went cheap and possibly painted it with single stage paint..... This could be the reason for the easy chips!

Ermmm, Mitsu use single stage paint for pretty much all their cars.

be thankful....the issues with the EVO do not appear to be near as bad as with the new Subarus

You're correct. Even national magainze such as Car and Driver, and Automobile have horror stories to tell about Subbies' paint.

MY IX is still in better shape than my Z, and Ive had my IX longer.

just got my car. It has clearbra type material on the rear panels. I am also getting the flaps installed.

When i got it home i already started to notice that things were being thrown that way but the dust marks streaking backwards....I wish i would have gotten the aero kit to help out a little.

It is actually why I added the aero kit to mine. There is a clear difference of how much spray is thrown on the doors.

I wonder which components of the aero kit help, it might be better just to buy those components....if it doesnt look too odd to only have the front or sides, etc.

the aero kit is 3 part. the front airdam, the sideskirts, and the rear partial skirt.

it is the sideskirts that help, they stick out a lot further.

Do you think guys it will be weird to put just the side skirts? I really like the stock front and rear but I want to protect it also.

2nd, i wonder how much they cost from Mitsu and if they would sell/install them. I get my mudflaps on the car this week also so lets see what that does.
