Evo X official paint issues/problems thread {merge}
That's been covered.
Scratch-X's effectiveness was covered, as well, as was the ability to notice the scratches with ease.
The suggestions above weren't aimed at paint chips, but at the scratches described in the quoted message. So, what's your point?
Nothing will fix what? Paint chips or scratches? Dare I say, that was covered, as well. Thanks for the riveting revelations.

So, my apologies if my post was redundant, but I don't think a reinforcing opinion will hurt anyone.
I don't have time to read every single post, and sometimes this thread moves kind of fast. I thought there was a question of whether ScratchX would aid with the rock chip issue.

As for the damage to your car that you described earlier, you may want to have a look at the fist post on the previous page. If you need recommendations, I'd be happy to help. Good luck.
Your comment looked like a correction, hence my reply. Perhaps I was wrong. Stop by the detailing from sometime; we'd love to hear from you.

I'll stop by there, thanks.
Mine is covered in dings in the rear. I would clear bra it but it doesn't make sense because it already looks crappy and I heard that putting a clear bra over it only magnifies the problem spots.
same bs
It seems this is a widespread problem, and I would like everyone who is seeing this to report in this thread and post pictures. We all know Mitsubishi is watching these forums, and I believe a stuck thread with actual pics will go a long way to help improve quality control for future X owners, and maybe even get something done for those of us who already have damage.
There was another thread, but it was more about the owner getting his car repainted. I want this thread to focus on cars that are damaged and any discussion that has been had with the dealerships out there.
Here are my pics:
Here in this first pic is a pic of my orange OBDII port scanner. The spot you will be looking for on your Evo X is directly above the scanner on both sides of your car. Please report back and take pics if you see anything on your own car!

If you look in the bottom right corner of this pic, you can see where Mitsubishi has already added what looks like 3M tape to the bottom of the door.

Sadly, all the little specs in these pics are not dirt. They are chipped paint that was damaged from spray from the front tires. This is not from driving in gravel, this is driving on a standard interstate, the front tires catching everything on the road, and hitting the back of the car. Over longer periods of time (like a year) the damage will be simply awful on any car at 12k miles or so. Clearly something must be done quickly. The pic where my finger is pointing is the spot that was cut the deepest.

I agree with what the other guy said.
I have the Kumho V700 tires on my Viper GTS. They are a R compound tire. And driving on the street. My wheel wells litterally get sand blasted. I dont care what anyone says. But no paint job is gonna take that type of beating . And my Viper isnt even a daily driver..

Some may want to see where this individual is coming from (please read the entire short thread):

Every thread? This is about detailing, only. If you don't care that an individual who is a proven liar, who is unable to prep the paint, whose cars look like they only went though a car wash, and who is posting diversionary crap as valid advice, who comes to this forum and posts an authoritative recommendation, it's your choice. Good luck.

Errr...the link I uploaded came from the detailing forum. At the risk of stating the obvious, as the text is right above, my post was aimed at the nonsensical assertions posted earlier. It's a matter of credibility. If you just want to argue, shoot me a PM. Just don't complain when I respond.
So, now that people with the Aero package (wider side skirts) have driven their Evo X's for more miles now, is it definitely the case that the optional Aero package prevents this damage to the paint on the rear doors/side skirts? I ask b/c most of the X's on the local dealer lot have Aero package right now and this might be worth it vs. other options. Thanks.
