Evo X official paint issues/problems thread {merge}
Wow...that looks horrible (sorry man). That's just ridiculous, but I mean you can see where everything is coming from as the wheel sticks out further than the rear of the front fender.
Exactly why I not only had the nose, lower portion of the hood, and mirrors covered with 3M clear bra, but the side rocker panels and that dog leg of the lower rear doors covered as well...together with front & rear Evo mud flaps...because my Evo doesn't have the Aero package.

How much did that set you back?
I only paid $250 for the nose, hood, and mirrors (part of the deal with the dealership)...and I paid another $150 for the rear doors and lower rocker panels (long thin plastic piece below doors that stretches between the two wheels).
Getting the rocker panels covered is critical not only for the sand blasting the tires give, but for protection from people hitting their shoes / boots on as they get in & out of the car.
And for all you naysayers who feel the mud flaps are useless...I just picked up my Apex silver GSR last night. Some roads around my area still have snow/ice/water on them, and after driving the 20 miles back home from the dealership, the car STILL looks clean...snow & dirt caked on the lower portions of the mud flaps only.

IMHO all japanese manufactures use $#!tty paint (same as all the Hondas I have owned), I have 1000 miles on my car and already about 15nicks in both sides, my car also does not have the clear adhesive all the other Evo's have from the factory either??? I ordered some mudflaps to help with the issue and will be seeing if the dealer will give me some clear bra material and touch up paint next time I go down there.
I might look into the Rex speed side spats and paint them flat black and throw them on to cover some of the effected area too.
Oh and I am in too!

What I can say though is my new Potenza RE960 A/S Pole Position tires I had installed on the stock GSR rims the day after I picked up my car totally kick butt in the snow. I'd venture to say that my new Evo X with these new tires handles better in the snow than my old 07 WRX which had Potenza RE92's on it.

I'd have to agree with you here. My UGM 2007 WRX had crappy paint as well. But on the other hand, the paint on my old black 2004 Mustang mach 1 sucked too.
It's because of the paint on my two last cars is why I opted for the 3M clear bra (on nose, mirrors, rocker panels, and lower parts of the rear doors) along with mud flaps to be installed before I even took delivery.

After installing my front Rally Armor flaps. The sides of my car stay cleaner. And I dont hear anymore impact sounds from debri,like I used to without the RA flaps. The skin on the X is so freaken thin. You can hear just about anything hit the car. Night and Day difference afterwards..

yeah and I'm sure the difference in the weather here and there make a difference as well. There has been alot of salt and gravel on the roads with the snow weve had. So I probably have ALOT more debris than you would see under the circumstances.
