I'm just really upset and confused that mitsu can call that "road debris" wear and tear...that's BS!!! obviously u kno this is a problem or u wouldn't put that sorry excuse for a protective film on the bottom of your doors...my damage goes from my side skirts to about halfway to my door...every time i see it i think about how much its guna cost to repaint that...and the most gut wrenching thing is now i have to ride around with these giant mud flaps

Do you guys think side skirt extensions would help or solve this problem? I really don't want to use flaps. It looks like the extensions would tend to block a lot of kick up.

The main issue is that the front tires are very sticky and with the wide stance kick up debris right up the rear door. Even with Rallyarmor mudflaps some debris will still get under and hit the problem area in my experience. The extensions will probably help as they would effectively cover the lower area. Of course the bottom of the extension would get beat to hell but it would be the lesser of the two evils.

mudflaps are options that can be bought. if you want to prevent this, buy the flaps and rest your case. when I bought my honda, it was obvious that salt spray and debris are going to be flipped right to the bumper and running board, hence I bought the optional flaps.

Mudflaps work but they don't eliminate all the spray. The combination of a wide track and concave rear doors/fender area makes it necessary to have a large 3M film to protect the area. You can clearly see that companies like Mitsubishi and Subaru are cheaping out with the little pieces of film that don't cover enough area. If you're going to use **** paint at least use the proper amount of film in high debris areas. That would reduce all the customer trips to the dealer and make customers happy. They are putting on film already so what's the extra cost of making the film cover more area?

I was thrilled to see this last week. After mine have already been damaged, New from Mitsubishi, you can get these at your local dealer as an accessory item. They literally came out last week. These are clear plastic 3M decals to cover the whole rocker area that gets hit and damaged. Part # covers both sides.

Lancer EVO Part # ALE08YXX01 $119.95
Lancer W/Side air dams # ALN08YXX01 $119.95
Lancer W/O Side air dams ALN08YXX02 $119.95

On the rear bumper where the bumper itself meets the quarter panel right behind the wheels, the paint is peeling away due to faulty installation or something. I had the dealer look at it. They're going to fix it under warranty.

Guys, this happens to all cars with flared fenders. Seen a late-model Porsche 911 lately? Look at the size of that ugly paint protection film on the fender.

You'll get rock chips on the hood too, just from driving the car. Drive and enjoy your car and don't worry about the paint. Eventually get it resprayed if it bothers you. No big deal.
