You'll get rock chips on the hood too, just from driving the car. Drive and enjoy your car and don't worry about the paint. Eventually get it resprayed if it bothers you. No big deal.

Man...if only we all lived in a world where spending the money to get our car resprayed was no big deal...

Paint chip ROLL CALL!

Everyone with this issue please respond here or report to the sticky above. Talked to an attorney today and need to fax everything I can to him. I'd like to have it by tomorrow and hopefully with more responses and pictures we can get this resolved. So anyone with this problem past or present email me at evox34@yahoo.com with pictures and your name and any repairs you have already made. I had dealer mudflaps installed and they did no good so if you have a similar problem tell me about it. It will take 5 mins to take pictures and upload them.
Thanks
Tyson

This sounds interesting. I'll snap some photos tonight or tomorrow when I get home. Nice to see someone trying to do something about this.

No. I'm pretty sure all the colors use the same soft, thin paint. It doesn't take much to peel paint off these cars as it feels like the paint still hasn't cured. There's definately something different in this paint compared to what I've had with other cars. It's not the same paint as what's on my wife's 2007 Outlander which is in pretty good shape for having three Canadian winters under its belt.

I don't have a major chipping problem yet but just working around the car I can tell it's extremely fragile.

If anyone else is having problems X or not post pics. I believe the only ones not having this issue are the ones with the aero package. But I have never looked in the lancer section.

i have gsr without aero. My quarter panels are horrific, to the point where there is basically no clearcoat left on it, it has been sand blasted off by little rocks. I have a great deal of paint chips and some so bad that it has actually began to rust at the corner of the door. I don't have any pictures of it but even after i wash my car this area looks dirty because of the white hue from all the chips.

If i run my hand over the area it actually feels very dull because of how the clear coats seems to have been blasted off. No offroad driving or anything like that, just 10k miles of driving on NY roads. Chips right down to the metal. In my opinion its unacceptable, the car should have been provided with adequate mudflaps or 3m protectant with such a pronounced problem.

all trims of the lancer are showing paint chipping problems.

This is for all evo's. I have seen a bunch of threads like this in the past but never fallowed through with them. Good luck getting anything from Mitsubishi since they are the biggest crooks on the market.

Mine looks the same after washing it to. Is there anyway you get get some pics? A friend or co worker with a digital camera. We need as many people as we can get for better odds of getting this corrected. They already hurt htemselves by putting the 3m protective film on. They knew there was an issue.

08 sti had the same issue, and subaru fixed it by providing a larger protective film.
